I'm an experienced RC pilot who flies mostly EDFs. But the T-28 is an exception for me. Previously owned the EFlite T-28 and loved it, I thought the slightly larger FMS version might be even more fun with some of it's scale details that the Eflite version doesn't have. While there are some definite pros to this version of the T-28, including different colors, superior canopy attachment, and LED lights, that's where things stop being good. The main retracts are garbage--constatnly getting stuck after take off. You can try to cycle the gear and you might get them to fully retract, but most of the time this does not work. The aileron and flap hinges are foam. For a plane this size that's a big problem! Additionally the wing attachment system is a joke. Most people will need to take the wings off for transport which means having to deal with routing the wing servo wires every time you put the wings back on, along with needing a long bit hex driver to fully seat the screws. I understand that this plane has been out for a while now and hasn't been updated with some of the new quick wing attachment systems available on newer planes, but it's definitely something you should be aware of if you're used to some of the newer Freewing offerings. The plane flies great, but definitely triple check all your control surfaces to ensure the foam hinges are intact. We lost ours on maiden due to a faulty aileron hinge that gave out during flight causing the plane to spiral in to the ground. The plane went from straight and level flight at 3/4 throttle to a death spiral in a matter of seconds as soon as we saw the aileron start flapping. All in all, save your money and stick with the smaller Eflite or if your wallet allows, buy the other brand offered by MotionRC. ... show more

FMS hit this one out of the park. It is a supreb flyer. The craftsmanship is excellent. The only improvement would have been a spring locking canopy not a snap lock.

Plane is beautiful but to many issues with pnp planes. And I wish FMS would either put in a proprietary receiver, use spectrum or something to add to in every other instance a great plane. It is durable and most times easy to put together and in many instances takes a receiver and flies OK. BUT... The pnp definition is so wild across different platforms that you know what your getting and sometimes you don't. Also, innovate beyond a plane that snaps together. It's not that hard to run the wires during assembly so spend the extra 5 bucks and stick a damn receiver to them. Or at least give an option. I have a lot of rc planes from everywhere but I also have an ix12, 20, and the new nx10. I like to have one to rule all. As well as set it and forget it. I say 5 dollars and don't care if it's 30 at bulk price. Just give me the option and I will pay. There is simply no reason on my opinion to offer plug and play with many receivers costing way more than the 30 dollar discount to bind and fly. If you can't afford the 30 then don't buy a 3-600 dollar plane. If you have 3 plane and enjoy the hassle of switching recovers. Then you be you. But most folks. Ay not have the time and my free time is worth 30 dollars 10 fold. So the 2 star review comes from the fact that I put a brand new receiver in this plane as I have done all my pnp planes and somehow it came loose and wreaked havoc causing a short take off crash. I was shocked to say the least when that broke plane in half to reveal ZERO CARBON SPARS RUNNING FRONT TO BACK OR SPARS AT ALL. PLANE WAS ONLY 3 FEET OFF THE GROUND. Receiver was my fault and my rant. But the 400 dollar plane with no bnf avail along with not even 1 single reinforcing spar inside made this a 2 star. Sorry for Typos. In a hurry. ... show more
