  • Snap, crackle, and POP!
Color: Original Version
This is a powerful zapper! The gnats have been terrible this year in my house, and after trying sticky traps (miserable failure) I got fed up and bought this zapper, honestly not expecting that much. Well, I set it on my kitchen counter, plugged it in, was blinded by the light (literally) and when a gnat hit it, you could hear the crack of lightning at the other end of the house! I am not exaggerating. It vaporized the gnat. When a fly or moth hits it, it sounds like a helium balloon just exploded next to your head. I'm sure this little unit could also be utilized outdoors, though your neighborhood might think you've opened up a shooting range in your backyard from the sound. I've never had a larger bug zapper before, so perhaps this is normal. So, pros are that this zapper is very effective against large and small flying insects, it is compact enough for your countertops or the top of your fridge, there is no annoying buzzing sound when in operation, and it makes a great nightlight for half our house. Cons are that it is loud when a bug gets zapped. Our four dogs bark at the crack of insect doom from the other end of the house, one of them now refuses to enter the kitchen and everyone in the household flinches and cringes when within 5 feet of the unit in anticipation of an impending strike of bug induced lightning. My husband is the exception, so another pro is that he is highly entertained by the gnats being electrocuted. He is also happy (or secretly disappointed, hard to tell) that he no longer is chasing the hundreds of gnats around the kitchen swinging wildly with the electric tennis racket (lightweight handheld battery powered zapper that never did anything, in my opinion) or attempting to vacuum them off the ceiling, appliances, etc with the vacuum hose (which was mildly successful and quite fun to watch a grown man wildly wave around a vacuum hose after microscopic insects traveling the speed of an F14.) My conclusion is that this was a great buy, I'd recommend to a friend, space friendly, insect unfriendly, nice longer cord, powerful, but be prepared for all in household to have PTSD every time someone snaps their fingers from the time of the first buggy demise on. Next 4th of July should be fun for all of us. ... show more

  • Works like a charm.

Recommended. I hate summer because of the flies that get into my house and room. So i bought this device and it works great. First time setting it up in my room and literally before i could walk the 8 feet back to my desk- POP! Already had its first "customer". The pops are loud though, but you get used to them, at least i did, they are like music to my ears now. From what ive seen, it works on pretty much any flying insect. Although it seems like fruit flies arent as attracted to it as everything else but i'd bet if you put some beer or something out as bait in the little tray that comes with it, it will draw them in better. Comes with 2 replacement bulbs and a chain so it can be hung up where ever. Its small and very light so its easy to move from room to room or taken on trips. Doesn't work well in brightly lit areas, which is probably obvious. No issues yet but to me, its already paid for itself with the piece of mind it gives so even if i had to buy a new one every year for what ever reason, i'll gladly do it. ... show more

I LOVE this zapper! We've had ZERO issues with house flies or fruit flies since I bought this, and I won't be without one, again. I live in the South, and flies in the house drive me crazy!

  • UPDATED/This bug zapper lives up to its name
Color: Original Version
UPDATE 3/27/21 Thought the bulbs burned out so ordered replacement. Did the replacing 3/26/21 but still wouldn’t lights still wouldn’t come on even after adjusting bulbs several times. Finally took cover off of top thinking a wire might have come loose since the zapper part was still working. Found a large burnt spot on the main circuit board. I thought a bug got in there and shorted something out, but the burnt section only has a ruined diode. After looking closely I also found a glass diode was shattered. If I can find a replacement board I’ll swap it out. I might even be willing to switch out components on the board if I could figure out what we’re the bad ones. Two of the blue capacitors have slight bulging indicating they’re going out. I’ve had this unit on almost constantly since my original review. Through the winter months it was basically a nightlight. Don’t know if the constant use burned out the board or just had a defect waiting to happen. While it was working it did great. I’ll be getting another one, but I’d also like to repair my first one. I removed one star ⭐️ from my earlier review of 5⭐️s because it didn’t last a year. *************************** This bug zapper lives up to its name, it zaps bugs. Simple to setup and use, just place it in an area you want to zap bugs and it does the rest. There is a pretty audible zap when a bug hits it, loud enough that it scares both my dogs. The 20 watt stuns larger flies, but they usually stagger around the catch tray before either finally dying or until they hit the zapper again. The first day I set it up in the kitchen, and within about an hour there were no more pesky flies buzzing around. I had been having problems with flies coming in through the doggy-door, so I placed it near the door (about 3ft to the side). All day long as a fly would sneak in, it would see the UV light and be attracted to it. The picture is from sitting on the floor near the door. Very effective and entertaining (listening to the zap and seeing kids and pets jumping). ... show more

  • Great fly zapper!
Color: Silver
This is working quite well. It’s pretty quiet compared to one we had a few years ago and it’s been quite effective. I haven’t seen flies or mosquitoes flying around since I plugged it in. We will see how it holds up, but I’m satisfied for now. It’s very easy to operate, just plug it in. It is pretty easy to clean also. It’s smaller and lighter than the huge, noisy unit we had before. ... show more

  • Works like a charm
Color: Original Version
We bought this to get rid of the little black flies that seem to come with organic bananas. Works nicely. The bodies of the flies pile up at the bottom so once a month or so I take it outside and use my leaf blower to clean it out. You will hear a loud pop each time it zaps one.
