I have examined this very reasonably priced net critically and closely. I believe that it will last very well. The hoop that holds the net is smooth extruded black anodized aluminum. This aluminum hoop mounts into a heavy plastic block that I believe will be very durable when I look at the heft of the plastic. The net is tough feeling fiber of some type that feels very sturdy. The netting is rubberized and appears to be very tough and yet it should be easy on the fish so they can be safely released without harm. I am impressed by the small hole size in the netting. I measured the oval shaped holes at approximately 1/4" X 3'16". This should let me use this for netting minnows as well as landing larger fish. The netting is held in place in the hoop very securely and all edges are hidden and protected within the aluminum hoop. The stitching is well done and well finished. It appears to have great lasting strength. The 8" folding handle folds very nicely and securely it is easy to unfold using just one hand. It should be very easy to store out of the way on my fishing boat. I do wish there was some type of belt clip on the net frame for stream fishing but I am sure it will be easy to rig this little beauty with a lanyard and clip to take care of that. I will be shocked if I don't get years of enjoyment from this net. I will add to this review if it disappoints in any way but I do not see that happening. I am ordering another of these right away. Great product... my wife and I do a family fishing channel on YouTube (channel called Stanley Orchard) and we picked up on of these nets for use at the jetties in salt water. We are hard on our equipment, but this net beat all other nets we've used and at the same price point. Things to note: The net features a rubber mesh... this is fantastic because it does less harm to the fish and makes it much easier to get stuff out of the net. Fins, hooks and sea urchin bristles (yup, we really put it through the ringer) were much easier to remove. The net itself is encased in the rim of the product, which is really awesome. This way the mesh doesnt rub against rocks when you drag it against them. This is a fantastic feature! The mesh features a square bottom, which keeps it open and again allows to get fish out much easier. The handle folds... i'm not fond of this feature. It lock is strong and i've had no issues with it, but it seems like a part the could break and only saves a couple inches in overall length. ... show more

Net worked very well for any small fish but the few larger fish that we got created some issues. One time my son lost a fish because the net collapsed apart. (Whether is that is due to user error or because he is 10 I will not know)

This net is a affordable trout landing net. It has a foldable handle for making it more compact to store or travel with. The net material is a rubbery type of material and has a flat bottom to keep the fish in the proper position making it easier to handle release the fish and also reduces the chances of the hook snagging on the net material. Landed a decent trout with this. Magnet is strong, net looks great. Didn't get the fly or line tangled like other old style string nets. Rather impressed when I opened the package and saw a very nice wooden frame. 25 bucks, worth it I guess. You can see the net on my knee in the photo

This is an amazing design, even though it’s a fly fishing net for wading, its such a great net to go kayaking and canoeing with! I can’t wait to test this out on the water! It’s built very well also, it has a rubber coated mesh so my lures and such won’t get tangled in the net itself, it’s got a collapsible handle for storing it as well!
