  • Yes, 5 stars read why..
Color: Black R3
Why I gave 5 stars. First off, I'm not comparing this to the 200.00 German Floyd. I'm comparing it to what you're probably looking to replace, lic. floyds, Ibanez Edge 3, DL's, or the 20 dollar crap from China. So, comparing, quality, price, etc. Yes this is extremely better than those mentioned. I have some real floyds and they're amazing. I had a Jem jr, that I wanted to strip down and build up and the idea was to do it as cheaply as possible but at the same time upgrading it. So, I bought this FRSpecial. And I have to say, that I'm impressed. I've seen some people comment that the tuners are a little tight, which is true however, nothing a little WD-40 or Liquid Wrench won't fix. This fit perfectly into my Jem jr. Same with the mounting studs, I just pulled out the old ones and these slid in perfectly. It does not come w/ a Brass block, however you can order one for like 30 bucks. I had one laying around in a box of accessories, so I just swapped them. Once I got it in, adjusted and set right, it's great. I can tell a huge difference over the "DL" trem the Jem Jr's come with. And I've seen some say they can't "flutter" with the FRSpecial. That's the first thing I tested and flutters just fine. Where as the "DL" was hit and miss. I'm probably going to start using the specials more, just to save cash with my upgrades and builds. They're great and probably the best for the price. If you shop around, you'll see they're half the price of the German (that's like 2 for the price of one German Floyd.), and not much more than the crap from China..These are made in Korea but for Floyd Rose, you can order these from the Floyd Rose website. So you know the quality is way better than the Chinese trems and the lic. etc.) I can't say enough about them for what you're getting. I had once ordered a Trem (lic. Floyd) from guitarfetish.com for 85 bucks it's ok, but not nearly as good as the FRSpecial and again, it's a Floyd. very well worth the price..I highly recommend these if you're looking to replace garbage Trems or even lic. floyds that come on entry level or intermediate priced guitars. And again, these fit perfectly in the Jem jr. ... show more

  • Quality product
Color: Black Nickel R2
I have played guitar for almost 30 years and I have used the floyd rose special on many guitars with no problems! Most people who complain about the floyd rose special that it's junk they are so wrong!! Yes it's not the original but the only thing that isn't the same as the original is the saddles!! The saddles on the special are zinc alloy and the original are steel!! Out of the last 8 years I have replaced the saddles on my fav guitar which has the special 1 time so the quality is there! And easy to install if you know how if you don't. watch a few videos on YouTube and decide if this is at your level of do it yourself project. ... show more

  • Looks great, works great
Color: Black Nickel R2
I bought this to resurrect my old trusty ESP. I had retired it a few years ago due to the work it needed done to it. Among the things needed was a saddle insert change, but instead of fighting the corroded inserts out of the saddles, I decided to upgrade the bridge altogether. I made them mistake and didn't pay attention to the nut size, it comes with an R2, and mine uses an R3. I kept the original nut on it and it works perfect. The black nickel finish looks great and compliments the original hardware of the guitar. the bridge functions super smooth and is very stable returning the guitar to perfect tune even after some harsh divebomb abuse. I would definitely buy again to upgrade any of the "special" bridges that I have. ... show more

  • Better than a production model.
Color: Black Nickel R3
I ordered the black chrome to replace a Jackson black Trem. Well worth changing it out. Even the intonation was spot on. I recommend going with the chrome versions over the standard black ones, for some reason the black oxide finish on all brands is crap, especially the coating on the screws. They get Gritty. I replaced all the screws on trems with stainless from Amazon. You need to carefully file last threads off original screws to remove them. If you have a detuna and are frustrated, look at the surface ends of those screws, they need to be resurfaced SMOOTH. Most have an uneven surface or crimp, will change contact with every turn. ... show more

  • Stays in Tune!
Color: Black Nickel R2
This Floyd Rose dropped right into my Ibanez RG270 with only minor mods to the body for clearance. All in all, it took less than 20 minutes to replace the old "Licensed by Floyd Rose" which was a poor quality tremelo at best. After stretching the strings and setting up the string to spring balance, this bad boy holds tune like a pit bull on a bone! Even radical trem use is no problem, it just stays in tune. The area where the base plate meets the studs is where the old Floyd Rose had problems. After a while it develops divits or flat spots which can be filed out but return quickly. Having a Floyd Rose is a lot of work, setting it up and maintaining it, but it is well worth the effort. One of the best purchases I have made in years. I have been playing for 50 years and do all my own luthier work on my guitars. Having used many different tremeloes thru the years I can honestly state this is a gem of a device. ... show more
