    • Beautiful leather, quality stitching, nice large size for laptops!
As a former bag maker, I am very particular about leather and stitching. Both get an A+ here. (No chemical smells either, as another reviewer noted. And I have a very sensitive nose.) While I would have preferred a more oiled veg tanned leather... that marked up easily for a lived-in look... this will wear well and develop a patina over time. The bag's top is a raw edge, which lends a lovely rustic feel. The straps are thankfully double-layer leather, stitched and sturdy. A nice box stitch, on each handle's base, attaches it the the bag and gives it a higher-end feel. Another pricier (made-not-so-well) brand does an X stitch where the straps attach to the bag body and does not have double-layer leather straps or straps that are stitched - both cheap shortcuts. This is SO much better quality. Also, the designer took care to stitch the inside zip pocket onto the stitching of the straps, so there is no extra random stitching on the bag's body from a pocket being attached internally. All in all, expert touches that make me very happy! Would love this offered in a deep wine or black or as a zip-top. I would buy them all! Great for a work bag. I will note the bag does appear wider in person than the more vertical orientation of the Amazon photos, but it fits my oversized laptop horizontally, so fine by me! :) ... show more

I absolutely love this bag. It's the perfect size to fit all my stuff.The leather is beautiful,organic and is softening everyday.There was a leather smell the first day but after airing it outside for a day then in the garage at night, the leather smell had subsided. Now it smells nice. I even put a dryer sheet inside the bag the help it along. The smell isn't horrible, just smells like real animal leather. I'm super happy about my purchase amd excited about how the bag will soften and age gracefully. I love it so much that I'm looking into the other leather products from floto like the duffle bag and/or wallet. I'm so in love. ... show more

    • Strange smell for first 2-3 uses but awesome quality tote
I visited Rome Italy last year and saw several bags like this - simple no frills tote unlined. The price of this tote is great. The color is beautiful and will work spring summer fall. The first day I got it the dye/leather smell was strange and extremely strong. I hung it outside to air it out - waited a few days and the smell is gone. I loved the look, color, quality and feel of this bag. I is the perfect size. However it has a really terrible odor. I’ve purchased a lot of leather items in my life and never have I smelled anything quite like this. It’s been airing out for a week but the smell will not fade.     • Beautiful bag, terrible smell
I’m so sad to have to return this bag. It’s beautiful and soft but smells awful. I’ve been airing it out for 10 days and still the smell is overwhelming. Not at all is this a leather smell. It’s a strong chemical odor. Every time I open the bag it makes my stomach turn.

Absolutely love this gorgeous tote! A simple, clean design, beautifully crafted, supple unlined leather: perfect! I've been looking for a tote with this kind of uncluttered design- free of all the gloppy extras added to so many leather totes- for a long time, so I'm thrilled to have found this lovely bag. The straps are a perfect length-- long enough to wear on your shoulder comfortably and securely, and a good length to carry with your hand.
