There are two versions of this net advertised. One is rigid-based, and the other, the one I ordered, is offered as "telescoping" handle. It's a straight up lie. The handle on this net DOES NOT telescope. It's just false advertising. Having read previous reviews that mentioned that this net was not telescoping, I made positive that I chose the correct one that specifically stated that it did telescope. Of course it didn't. I'm not going to return it because it's more hassle than it's worth. But, just be warned. If you order telescoping, you're not going to get what you thought you'd paid for. ... show more

    • Kind of flimsy feeling.
We wanted a fold up net for fishing on the boat. We like to catch catfish which can get on up in weight. Not feeling very confident about it holding much weight.

Pictures of the net says it's 16.5" deep. In reality, it's 9.5" to the seam. I ordered this net because of the size described in the pictures. Definitely disappointed.

We keep this net right by the front door as we use it SO MUCH! We have a river that runs through our front yard & we have 3 kids under the age of 10. NEEDLESS TO SAY....THEY LOVE TAKING THE NET TO THE RIVER!! Usually nets around here dont last for more than a few weeks, if they last more than a month they are nice nets. We have had this net for over 5 months or so... and it STILL LOOKS BRAND NEW! This is BY FAR our favorite net of all time to use around the house & in the river. If you've shopped for a dip net at your local bass sportsman's outfitter, you probably choked on the asking prices. I was pretty excited to order this product, and for its asking price, it is a great value. The net is very lightweight. The handle easily swings out and locks into place, and can be returned to its folded position by pulling on the spring-loaded locking tab. The net material feels like some sort of rubber, but I would imagine it's a thread or string of some sort which has been coated, as it's pretty durable. The net includes a very small caribiner to clip onto a backpack or belt loop. This is one of two things that I would change, as it's kind of spindly. The other thing that I would change is, the design would easily accommodate a telescoping feature. There's room to allow the handle to be extended by at least a foot, or maybe two. Other than these two (minor) complaints, this dip net is a great value for the manufacturer's asking price. I would order it again. ... show more

    • Nice intermediate size with compact handling
I sometimes enjoy fishing canals, which present the challenge of landing fish from water level 2-3 feet below the bank I'm standing on. This type of fishing entails a good deal of walking with a backpack and rod(s) so I need a compact net with more reach than a small hand net that stores conveniently on my tackle backpack. This net really does a nice job of meeting these criteria. It's easy to quickly deploy from the folded position. The hoop size and net depth are good (just easily landed a nice 3 lb. bass with it yesterday). The handle clip is perfect for hanging on my backpack. I also like the way the net is attached to the hoop.....it's very clean with a smooth nylon band that is not as likely to get snagged while sliding the net under a fish. If you're looking for an affordable intermediate size net that stores and handles easily, this is a great choice. ... show more

This fish net is super nice with a high quality fabric net that seems like it will hold up-the frame is light, but definitely nice quality as well. I have not been able to fold it back down, but I am fine with that-if that’s something that’s important to you, you may find it’s not very easy since I C can’t even figure out how to do it.
