This flip gate latch is seriously heavy duty. The stainless steel feels solid and well made, not thin or flimsy at all. It also has a clean, polished silver look that gives the gate a nice finished appearance while still being very functional. I’m installing this on my chicken house/barn doors because the animals already broke the last latch we had on there—and there’s no way they’re breaking this one. It lines up easily, works smoothly, and the padlock hole is a great added security feature. Built for outdoor use, strong, and good-looking at the same time. If you need a reliable latch that actually holds up, this is a great buy and well worth the higher price tag.

This is a beast, compared to other locking latches I've used. It's 4mm thick stainless steel. So it will hold up to stress, and should stand up to weather. When I first took this out of the box, it wasn't obvious how it would fit together. Once I looked at some pictures, I appreciated how the design is very forgiving about how big a gap it can bridge. It's more of a lock than a latch, I think. The channel in which the cross piece sits is somewhat narrow. I could easily imagine some energetic animals jostling it loose. But once you put a padlock (or just some kind of pin) in there, it's a different ballgame. I open and close mine a lot, so I've just put a carriage bolt on a lanyard, so it's easy to take out and put back in, in lieu of having to open and close a padlock. When it's closed, some of the screws on both pieces are shielded, so someone can't just use a screwdriver to remove the latch instead of opening the lock. And it comes with some pretty hefty screws, which is a pleasant surprise. Installation is straightforward, and since the cross piece rotates 360 degrees, it's trivial to put it on either side of a gap. You do pay a lot for this. You should be sure you need this kind of heavy-duty solution before popping for it. And make sure that your door won't break before this does, if stress is applied. Otherwise, all that strength is wasted.

I needed a flip latch for a new gate that was being built for me. I saw this Pxoerzy flip latch lock and it had all the features I needed. This is truly a heavy duty gate hardware. It is made of durable plate stainless steel of over 4mm thickness. As such, this lock should hold up for a very long time in the hot humid and rainy weather where I live. The flip latch moves up and down easily. It also has an incorporated padlock hole so I can secure the latch from opening. This latch lock Is generous sized at over 8 inches long by 3 inches tall. Also included are screws to attach this lock to wooden frames but I got purchased metal screws to attach this to a metal side gate. I highly recommend this stainless steel gate flip latch as it’s quality build exceeded my expectations!

I don't know if you're paying for the stainless steel or what, but I definitely don't see the price for this product being equal with the quality. It does seem fairly sturdy and if it is actually stainless steel, that's about where the value ends. This latch is rough. It feels like it was just stamped out of sheet steel and the parts just pressed and spot welded together. The edges are rough and the weld points extremely obvious. It actually felt that if I wanted to, I could slice myself by running my finger along the edges. There seemed to be no attempt to put a finer finish on this. Tumbling it for a bit to help reduce the burrs would have been helpful at the very least. Hopefully the sturdy and stainless aspects hold up when this is put into use in the great outdoors. A smoother, more professional finish would have gained this the 2 extra stars and put the product more in line with the price being charged.

I have slightly mixed feelings about this gate latch. I feel that for the price people are going to assume that they are getting a very finished look product instead what you are getting is a slightly unfinished product but one that is extremely well made. If the seller would have taken the time to send this down and powder coat it it would easily be worth double and I would have given it five stars. I've included pictures for your review but know that it cannot be used as it is out of the box or you could end up with metal shavings in your fingers. A slight sand or buff and you should be good to go as this is very heavy stainless so it will not rust you can easily spray paint or powder coat yourself as well. My husband is very impressed with it's sturdiness and the simplistic design that will work very well for even the heaviest of gates. There are no instructions, but it is simple enough to use and I really appreciate the level of flexibility in the size of gate and positioning of the latch. Can be used with nearly any padlock. Here’s my rating scale for products: 1 Star: Do not buy. This item has serious flaws. I would never under any circumstances use again. 2 Stars: Do not buy. Its usable at best, but you could easily find something better. 3 Stars: Just ok. Buy if you can't find an alternative. Some issues need to be addressed. 4 Stars: Recommend purchase. This item met my expectations. 5 Stars: I love this product and would highly recommend to friends & family. Additional Information: As a Vine reviewer, I know that people depend on these early revies as I to depend on reviews when shopping on Amazon. I fully intend to give honest insights.

I hadn't used this style of gate latch before and am really impressed with how easy it is to operate and yet how strong it holds. This is a much better design than many of the older style gate latches. We have problems with black bears and they literally broke a number of other latch styles. This one is very heavy duty and has prevented them from simply bending and breaking like they did with the other units I've tried. I'm definitely going to use these going forward whenever I need an exterior latch.
