I needed a tabletop tripod to film. I love that the head angles down evenly or flush with the tabletop, so I can film top-down. The tripod is lightweight and has cushion grips around the legs. Now, stretching the phone mount required some effort but I actually like that because it made me feel like my phone was more secure. This tripod works well with my iPhone. The legs can be held together, which allows your phone to become a perfect device for vlogging. Another point to add is the legs are bendable. I don't need that added benefit, right now, but the legs can be shaped and bent and possibly mounted to something. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the Bluetooth wireless remote. It was a nice bonus and it was so easy to connect. Just turn it on, wait for the blue light and connect to your phone's wireless. it works for pictures and for videos. It was definitely a nice added bonus to the tripod set.

Let's start with the bad, which is the remote, works so-so. testing was done with a Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Samsung Galaxy S9, Samsung Galaxy S10+ and a Moto X4. All had issues with the remote, sometimes the button press would work, other times it would not. Oftentimes a power cycle of the remote would be required even if having just successfully used. Inconvenient? Sure. Deal breaker? Absolutely not. Overall the stand is excellent. The legs can be moved together to be a comfortable handle for a selfie stick, or POV recording, or my son has even used it to hold his phone while watching shows. I used the stand in tripod mode to hold my phone while it displayed a video for a lawnmower carb rebuild while I was rebuilding my carb. Talk about convenient. I was then able to turn around and do a recording about how my experience went and share it with folks. The stand feels pretty durable overall, and while the clamp works great, you may have to adjust where and how your phone sits in it. We really didn't have any major issues or gripes. The grip tension is sufficient and even after a lot of use since we got it, the stand is holding up great. I also like that the legs are flexible/bendable, that helps to adjust for uneven terrain, or angles better than a standard tripod and adds to the value and usefulness. For that alone, at this price, I highly recommend this stand. YMMV with the remote, but again, even if you took the remote and tossed it in the trash, the stand itself is easily worth the price.

So... I originally bought this tripod to use for mounting my phone to various things to get footage BUT... recently I saw that we were going to have a small window of good conditions at Acadia National Park. I quickly grabbed my photography gear, threw it in my car and raced off to the park (a 4-hour drive)... Once I got there, the sun was already setting and and clouds/fog were predicted to roll in in about an hour so... I quickly raced to my favorite photography spots (including the Thunder Hole and the Bass Harbor Lighthouse). Jumped out of my car, went to grab my photography gear and... wait... WHERE'S MY GIANT, HEAVY TRIPOD?!?! Apparently I left my tripod by the door when I was frantically throwing everything into my car... BUT... I did already have this little guy in my car so I decided to try it out with my DSLR and lo and behold... and to my utter amazement... IT WORKED! It actually held my camera (including large lens) firm and didn't suffer from the dragging effect that most ball-type tripods have (in that it starts to droop over time - completely ruining astrophotography shots). This allowed me to do my 30 second exposures to capture the Milky Way at the Thunder Hole and the eerie red light at the Bass Harbor Lighthouse (I was hoping to capture the milky way behind the Bass Harbor Lighthouse but the fog had already rolled in by then - still came out cool I think). This tripod completely saved me. It would have been a completely wasted trip without this thing. I'm honestly blown away by how well it worked and now I don't leave without it! I still take my large tripod but this is my go-to backup tripod. Plus this tripod wraps around branches and poles and stuff very well - allowing me to get some pretty unique perspectives in some cases. Anyway I just had to share this story and my impressions of this little, surpassingly awesome tripod that saved my booty on this trip. I've attached some of the photos from the trip so you can see what I would have missed :) It came in handy the next morning too for the sunrise over Cadillac Mountain!
