The media could not be loaded. I have a very old kitchen aid that my mother in law gave me. It was her wedding gift, so it’s at least 35 years old. The paddle attachment started to crack so I needed a replacement. I purchased this one and was surprised how close to the original attachment it was. It fit onto my kitchen aid with ease, touched the bottom of the bowl, and mixed well. I honestly can’t tell a difference between it and the original performance wise. When the white coating started peeling off of the original 20+ year old mixer blade, it was time to replace it. This mixer blade appears to be constructed as well as the original. Time will tell.

    • Better than aluminum!
Style Name: Coated Flat Beater Fit 5 QT Bowl-Lift
The kitchen aid mixer paddles come in either aluminum or the coated. The standard aluminum attachments over a long time turn a funny dark color and leave a metallic residue even in your hands when handling them. This is not something I desire to have in my food. There is no way around the residue. They can not be scrubbed so much that they no longer leave the residue behind. There is no treatment available to stop it either. The coated paddles and dough hooks are wonderful as there is no aluminum residue to worry about as long as the coating remains intact. Aluminum, as a heavy metal, accumulates in the body and is found concentrated in the brain tissues of people exposed to it over time. It has been found to affect memory as one ages, and is the entire reason sometimes we often see deodorants that advertise they do NOT use aluminum as an ingredient. Stainless steel is much more expensive to manufacture but is relatively innocuous in the human body and the reason we find many implants such as joint replacements made out of steel. Unfortunately business is business and steel attachments which are the most preferable are too expensive to make; therefore the coated attachments are the way to go. Especially if you love using your kitchen aid mixers as much as I love and use mine. ... show more
