I opted to buy this Flashpoint version of the Godox V1 mainly because Adorama is a trusted vendor, and I couldn't say the same about the Godox sellers on Amazon. I was looking for a less expensive strobe for a Sony a7iii, but also one that I could try new things with. The round head and the various accessories in the Godox AK-1 kit will keep me busy for awhile. While a bit plasticky in feel, the feature set is impressive with the LI-ON battery and the wireless trigger options. I do agree the rotation of the head is on the stiff side, but hopefully that will loosen up with the time. If there's a concern about this adding undue stress on the hot shoe foot, try to get in the habit of holding the flash body while rotating the flash head to decrease the pressure on the foot. ... show more

I recently purchased this Flashpoint Flash because a photographer friend of mine gave me the reference. He showed me how this Flash has a faster system than the old Flash he owns. I love my flash I can't wait to continue using it I already used it, Its my 1st on & off camera flash ever, I also bought the accessory kit with color gels. I love this flash unit. Nice bright even light. I used it for an event shoot and fired off 585 shots and the battery pack was only down to about 75%. It also recycles quickly, in about 1 second. Very happy with this flash unit. Revised 10-27-22. The base of the flash is now loose and the flash unit wobbles under it’s own weight. I feel if I keep using it like this, it will break. This is a very accurate light! I'm very impressed with it. I had an issue with it at first which was solved quickly with a phone call. Turns out I was the problem😉! Great light!

    • Stopped working during first use!!!!!
Used this for the first time yesterday at a wedding. While shooting the mother/son dance this just stopped working, went completely dead, and it had a full battery charge. Tried another battery in it an no difference. It's a paperweight. Won't turn on. SO PISSED, especially since I'm past my return window. UGH. ... show more

It is a pretty neat flash and complements the Sony a7iii feature set very well. Definitely recommend buying this flash if you have Sony a7iii.
