This is in a office/kitchen of a restaurant, and there's lots of grease. A painted metal finish allows this to be wiped clean as necessary with degreaser. It's solidly constructed. A previous stool was damaged when someone kneeled on the seat, bending it. Someone else used it as a step stool, breaking off the cross members. While this isn't capable of acting as a step stool and would be damaged in doing so, it can definitely handle someone kneeling on the seat. After admiring the look of these sleek stools at my brothers home; my husband and I decided to purchase 5 for our new home. Out of the box we loved them; easy to clean and stackable with rubber pads on the feet. About a year has passed and our stools are already getting dinged up; arguably we have 3 active boys who use them relentlessly. The rubber pads are over rated and have torn up the finish on our brand new hard wood floors not to mention the legs have dings from being pushed into one another. I ordered two single stools and a pack of 4 of the black metal stools. I was happy to find the pack of 4 to be exactly what I needed for my classroom. The stools had a glossy finish, durable, kids love them. First graders are able to stack them. I had ordered two single stools to match my pack of 4. The finish does not match. The stools come in a matte finish. Even asked for a replacement explaining problem and got the same stool again...matte finish. I am now just frustrated that my classroom is lacking two stools that the students were excited about and I am left returning stools. When I received the chairs, they were too tall for what I needed. Since they were prime and also said "free returns", I tried to return them. Now the company said that I have to pay for the shipping back to them and will not honor the "free returns" as advertised. Now I am stuck with a large bill to send the chairs back to them. Fantastic and at a great price. The quality is indistinguishable from more expensive brands. I've stood on it to reach things and sat on it for hours. While its not great for super long work sessions, its good for medium length tasks. The black powdercoat seems strong and evenly applied.
