  • It works. Great Product. Save money in the long run.
Style: Refill Kit with 1LB Tank
I have been refilling those dark green bottles for years. It didn't dawn on me that when they are bulged out, they could explode or leak. I probably am lucky that I had no catastrophes. I saw the Flame King fill station on sale and I bought 6 more of their bottles on Woot. The first thing I noticed was how much heavier the Flame King bottles are compared to the dark green disposables. This is a good thing. They look like they will last a long time. I watched the video on how to fill them and it is very easy. I am testing one right now in a small propane heater and it fit perfectly. These bottles are made in Thailand and that is ok. I have been to other countries that live on alternative fuels like propane and kerosene. So they are pretty much experts on how to design propane bottles. If you use 5 or 10 small propane bottles a year, it is easily worth getting, plus you are not trying to figure out how to dispose of the empty bottles. The refill station comes with the stand, not necessary if you just want to put your tank upside down on a table or the tail gate of your truck. But it is more handy because it gives you more room to tighten the filler. When this refill station is on sale it is a good deal. It comes with an empty bottle and the refill attachment. ... show more

  • Not that hard
Style: Refill Kit with 1LB Tank
I like the idea of refilling bottles instead of having a bunch of partly filled bottles going to waste. Very easy to use make sure the line up pin is aligned with the notch to seat right.

  • Works but backwards?
Style: Refill Kit with 1LB Tank
Simple to use kit. All the parts you need and a single 1lb canister. Confused about operation because video I saw online had the placement pin in the back (leaving bottle vent) in the front, but this one has the pin in the front with the vent in the back. Safer I guess, but you have to reach behind to close the valve. Works great, simple operation, the stand is sturdy and held my 20lb canister just fine. Filled a few 1lb bottles quickly with no problems. No more disposable canisters for me! ... show more

  • NOTE: YOU MUST USE THIS ONLY WITH A 20-LB TANK!
Style: Refill Kit with 1LB Tank
The ad here does not make this clear. There are labels and comments within the videos telling you that this kit is designed ONLY for use with 20-lb tanks. I bought a 5-lb tank and it will NOT work. In my case, I was trying to put together their Weed Torch assembly, and no one locally will fill the small 1-lb refillable tanks. That forced me to buy a separate, larger tank - and I thought this kit was also required - but it is NOT (see below). ALSO, although this kit is nice to have, you do not necessarily need it. This filling operation can be done with their transfer valve that can be purchased by itself. Many people simply do this on the back of their pickup, for example. But if you want a convenient stand simply for filling, this is ideal. NOTE that the center screw hole is NOT drilled through the green baseplate. Watch the video. This one screw sits on top of the baseplate when assembled. I am not sure why, unless it simply makes the assembly easier. All other screws are recessed into that baseplate so there is no high spot when you place it on your surface. Finally, you should NOT use this stand kit to store your tank upside down. You MUST store the tank right-side up after filling - and NOT in the house or garage (according to the manufacturer). Keep that in mind, depending on your situation. To repeat, you would grab this stand from separate storage each time, flip the tank over and set it in place. You might be able to leave the transfer valve attached, but I believe the video tells you to disassemble t each time. It might be a safety issue. Not sure on that point. ... show more

  • It works exactly as described
Style: Refill Kit with 1LB Tank
I have filled many disposable 1 lb. propane tanks and got to be pretty good at it. This kit makes it almost effortless. I used the freezer method and always superchilled the tanks because I found it was the most effective way to get a full or nearfull tank without having to mess with the safety valve, a fairly awkward process at best with the shorty type adapters. When I discovered this device, and the compatible certified refillable tanks, I became more interested the more I investigated them. I actually bought 3 tanks, so with the tank that comes with the kit I have four. In the past , I found that using a superchilled disposable I frequently overfill by anywhere from one to three ounces. Not everytime but maybe 1 out of three if I fill with a full 20lber on a warm day. I weigh all my filled tanks and bleed off any excess for this reason.I have read that 1 or 2 ounces should not be an overfill issue , but there are many accounts if you search of bulging disposables that were overfilled so I don't take a chance. Anyways, having filled 4 tanks I can attest that the Flameking filling process is very accurate if followed as directed on their instructional video. Each tank was filled until I saw vapor/liquid just start to come out the bleed whole, and each fill weight was dead on, never over 16.4 ounces and very little under, no less than 16.2, or 16.3. This is very accurate for an eyeball method, although I always weigh and will always continue to due so, for my own piece of mind, and I would highly reccommend to anyone to weigh every tank.. A very accurate oz/gram scale can be had on Amazon for $20. The Flameking refillable tanks , contrary to what some have implied are very robust; but don't expect 20 or 100 lb tank gauge material. They only hold one pound! When filled properly they are more than adequate with the added benefit of a proper relief valve built in , just like the bigger tanks. Additionally, the buisness end is all very nicely machined brass, so guess what, no rust which often instigates stripped threads. The bleeding screw on the tank, plus the offset tubing that gets the small tank out where you can easily work on it makes the whole thing, once set up, a two minute process with no need to chill tanks or fumbling with needle nose pliers trying to hold open a overpressure valve that wasn't designed to be used in that fashion(is that really safe?). I actually was seriuosly considering modifying the valve unit(which would not be hard at all) to be able to fill reusables but am so happy with the certified refillable tanks I'm just going to use them. Some have stated that $11 is too expensive for a one pound tank, but considering you get one tank with the kit I think it's a great deal. I'm able to get propane for about $2 a gallon right now, so that works out to about 60 cents per fill.I know this isn't for everyone but if you are using a lot of tanks and filling them yourself, this is definetly faster, safer, and you will be using a more robust cylinder in you device.A great package , in my opinion. ... show more
