ive been flying RC drones and professional drones for close to 10 years now and I still find these small mini drones fun to play around with, but my real purpose was to buy this drone for my kids to play with and get the hang of it before attempting on a much more expensive drone. For 20 bucks this is a very cheap way of figuring out controls button control controls movement controls, and the overall sense of flying a drone through small spaces. It doesn't come with a camera. There are no extra fancy sensors, which is perfectly fine. It does have a nice cage, which protects the propellers along with some spare propellers for the future. It is easy to operate. It does have in one place unlike my first RC drone, which we always sync as soon as you let go of the accelerator this one stays hovering in place. It is very easy to get it up in the air zip around a small space like a room and not worry about damaging anything. It does take three AAA batteries for the remote and the two batteries that get charged go into a USB charger. The only thing I'm confused about is why when I plug in the USB charger to the battery it lights up the USB dongle and I don't actually know when it's finished charging the battery. It's a little bit confusing and I don't understand it so I'm just making sure that the battery is being charged for an hour or so before using since they don't pack a whole lot. Other than all this, I think it's a fantastic small drone for kids to play around with get the hang of do some fun acrobatics with it and get a feel for how drones operate.

Review of 4DRC brand V18 Mini Kids Drone: The biggest issue is dealing with the batteries. They are SUCH A PAIN to try and remove from the drone because of the design of the battery clips. It has a clasp on either side that clicks into the drone's housing. To remove the battery, you have to pinch both sides of the battery to release the clips. It sounds easy but it really isn't because of how the battery tapers, narrowing towards the top. That and a lack of serrations on the sides provide very little leverage to grip onto. BATTERY LIFE: Battery life varies hugely on how you fly the drone. On max 100% speed and full throttle, expect 7-9 minutes. Less if you do a lot of 360° flips. SPEED: The 3 speeds are just different voltages of the battery. Highest speed runs at 100% current. You have to select one of these three because the remotes throttle is not speed sensitive like higher and drones. Pressing the forward button activates maximum throttle so if you only wait to adjust movement speed is by toggling through the 3 speeds. NOISE: Regardless of what speed you fly the drone at, it is very whiny sounding. The small propeller spin fast, making a high pitched insect-like buzzing sound. The drone does NOT have GPS so there is no return to home (RTF) function. It flies very loosely and feels very imprecise compared to higher end drones. I recommend flying this indoors ONLY. This drone is very light with small, weak motors making it very susceptible to any sort of wind. It cannot handle wind at all. Even the breeze for my air conditioner in my bedroom knocked the drone off course. I tried flying this outside at 100% power and it took full throttle just to keep it in place from the lightest of breezes. This cannot handle outside. Whatever you do, don't fly too high because the wind gets stronger with the higher you fly and you'll suffer a "fly away" really fast. Without RTH or GPS tracking, this drone will quickly get lost if flown outdoors when it is windy. In conclusion, the drone is OK as a low cost toy that is best used indoors, away from wind. Battery life is mediocre at best. The 360° stunt flip is OK but very limited. It always flips at the same speed and distance. There's no way to customize the flips. The drone stops being controllable until the flip is completed. I quickly learned to use the flips sparingly because each flip drains the battery RAPIDLY. Every flip sucks about 30 seconds of flight time from the battery, instantly. You'll know when the battery gets low because the drone stops being able to flip once the battery level drops below a certain point. I like to carry case which keeps everything organized. It's not exactly the most protective and just uses a piece of foam cut out instead of molded interior but for the price point, it is OK. If I could improve just 1 detail about this drone, I would make it easier to remove the batteries or, do away with having to remove the batteries entirely and allow for pass through charging so I can charge the battery while it's inside the drone, like other brands.

This is a perfectly fun little drone for a beginner. My son ran through both batteries without damaging it, even though he crashed into stuff plenty of times. It has a spare battery, which is nice. We got decent battery life - over fifteen minutes each, which is a lot of fly time. Maybe if he had been more conservative with his piloting we could have hit the 30 minutes they mention in the listing. The remote is very full-featured, with the obvious controls you expect from a drone, plus an auto-landing/takeoff feature, a "return home" button, a mode where it flies in a circle, it can do a 360, etc. It's quite a lot and the manual it comes with is fairly descriptive, though leaves me confused at times by what they are saying. We've already charged and gone through both batteries a couple of times now. It's pretty fun. Also the drone has lights so you can still operate it when it starts to get dark. I think it has a beginner and expert mode but we have not yet been brave enough to try out expert mode. Maybe when we're better at flying it. If it wants to give a bit of assistance and make the controls more beginner-friendly, that is fine with me.

This little drone is super cute and lightweight. It is made from a very thin plastic that flexes easily with little pressure. It comes with two removable rechargeable batteries that have an offbeat charging connector so don’t lose the cord or damage it or the battery charging port. I find it a huge pain to take the battery out once I get it snapped in. You have to press firmly on either side and pull up, and there is little texture or groove to give my fingertips purchase. The charging ends are so small that even when seated well against each other there is a bit of a wiggle. The charging cord lights up to signal when the battery is done charging, so I was uncertain at first about whether or not it was actually charging. Once I finally got it charged I discovered that there is a multistep process involved for getting the drone and remote to pair, and then to calibrate. This has to be repeated every time I turn it on, which isn’t great. The controls are also pretty touchy for a kid’s beginner drone. We found that it’s tiny enough to fly in the house without much concern for damage or injury, although it does sound like an angry hornet nest. We did get a bit of fun out of it before the n battery died, but the overall experience coupled with the build was lackluster.

This little drone has been a whole lot of fun. It is fairly easy to use an operate. It is surprisingly sturdy and durable and has been through quite a bit in the short time that I have used it without a single scratch or issue. The controls are simple and fairly straightforward and even has some pre-programmed tricks using button combinations. Well designed. The remote functions well to effectively control the miniature drone. The lights on the Drone are bright and easy to identify based on their color for front and rear. The batteries are easy to mount and install in the device. The only issue is the charger is a little bit funky and the fact that it does not change color you just leave it in for several hours and assume that the battery has been charged. The controller is comfortable to handle. Good value for the money and makes a great gift for anyone including children.

This drone comes with two batteries, which is a nice bonus and helps extend flight time between charging sessions. The batteries also recharge fairly quickly, making it easy to get back in the air without a long wait. Battery life was surprisingly good for a drone in this size category. The instruction manual could be improved, as some of the controller button descriptions are confusing and appear to suffer from translation issues. It may take a little trial and error to fully understand all of the available functions. The drone has proven to be fairly durable in my use. It has survived multiple impacts while using the included propeller guards, and the package also includes an extra set of replacement propellers for added peace of mind. The controller offers several flight features, including orbit mode, spin mode, one-button landing, emergency motor stop, and a return-to-home function. However, the return-to-home feature did not perform reliably during my indoor testing and often failed to return to its launch point accurately. Compared to many other mini drones I have flown, this one maintains a stable hover once the horizontal calibration is completed. It also includes trim adjustments to help correct minor drifting, which can improve overall flight stability. Overall, it offers good battery life, decent durability, and stable flight characteristics for a beginner-friendly mini drone.

Bought this for my 8-year-old and honestly I wasn't sure what to expect at this price, but the 4DRC V18 completely delivered. The propeller guards are sturdy and have already saved it from about a dozen crashes into walls and furniture — totally worth it for a kid still learning. The auto hover feature is a game changer for beginners, it just holds steady in the air without fighting the controls the whole time. Headless mode also makes it way less confusing to fly since direction matches the controller regardless of which way the drone is facing. The LED lights look awesome in a dim room and my son thinks it's the coolest thing ever. Two batteries included is a huge plus — doubles the fun time before you have to stop and charge. Setup was quick and the controller feels solid in hand. Genuinely great value.
