Description

During the seventeenth century a number of ironworks were founded in Finland. The large tracts of forestland in the Pohja region along with its unharnessed water power and good water routes made it an ideal centre for the Finnish iron industry. The ironworks at Antskog were founded around 1630, and Billnäs followed in 1641. Fiskars was started in 1649, and today is one of the oldest businesses in the western world.

  • Great first scissors
Size: 11cm
My almost three year old is using these to learn how to cut with scissors. They are a bit challenging, but they are a more structured way to learn than a normal pair. It has taken some practice but after a few sessions she is able to cut the full length of a piece of paper. She is so proud of herself! ... show more

  • Quick delivery of hard to find scissor
Size: 11cm
I find these scissors very helpful for young children or children who are just learning to snip. The design allows the child to hold in a gross grasp on the outside of the handles or in a more refined grasp inside of the handles. The scissor has to be held in a straight position to cut the paper. I have had a lot of success with scissors and find them easier for students than the loop scissors many use. ... show more

  • Not easy
Size: 11cm
My 2.5 year old has to use 2 hands to squeeze these closed. Not nearly as easy as I was expecting them to be.

  • Really great for small fingers to practice cutting and strengthening fingers for dexterity.
Size: 11cm
These scissors are training scissors for toddlers and come with a spring in the back that keeps the scissors open - to use them (cut) they have to be forced closed by the user. These are perfect for my 2 year old, who is learning dexterity by holding pencils and learning how to cut in pre-school. She is actually able to use these without much problems - but she needed practice first. She can use these in the right or left hand, although she's predominantly left handed. The scissors are exactly as shown and I didn't feel the need to provide pictures since they look exactly as pictured. They also make small cuts and are appropriate for small children to practice - while supervised, of course. Because I liked these so much, I ordered a pair for her to take to school (it was on their school supply list) and one to keep at home for practicing. ... show more

  • Very awesome product!
Size: 11cm
My son (turning 5 in month & a half) loves these. They are easy to use for him. He is in OT regularly & has poor fine motor skills in his hands. These provide him with a way to use scissors while still maintaining control without having to worry about opening the scissors while cutting. They have a spring so they open automatically. Very nice. They seem to be well made. No extra parts & no having to worry about switching between manual & auto. My son likes to use them & can use them fairly well. That's worth the money I paid just for that. If I'd known they would work as well as they do, I'd have ordered more than one pair (one for home & one for school) . Will definitely buy again! ... show more

  • Tough to squeeze
Size: 11cm
These were hard to squeeze for my client. Maybe work them in when you get them, but just be aware of that.

  • Great Starter Scissors
Size: 11cm
These scissors are a great starting point for children learning how to cut. It allows them to focus and learn how to press down without having to worry about also learning to open the scissors after a cut. The scissors are sharp and fit perfectly for little hands. My daughter is three years old with autism. She is the size of an average 5 year old and has learned to press and cut with these scissors. They are sharp so I would recommend supervision but they are a great starting point for kids. I would recommend these for any child learning to cut. ... show more

  • The school asked us to get these and so they use this at school but I think they are frustrating and a good pair of small sewing scissors put better
Size: 11cm
I really prefer to use a real person scissor to teach the kids how to cut. The school asked us to get these and so they use this at school but I think they are frustrating and a good pair of small sewing scissors put better. Can the kids hurt themselves? Not with these so maybe that's why the school likes them but at home under complete supervision, I give them real scissors. ... show more
