These have been a champ. Finally replaced my 20 year old pair that served me exceptionally well; which makes this an excellent value. I have small hands. The compact size makes for handy use near my machine, ironing board, or a chair (for hand stitching.) The “pointy” tip and shorter length (than full scissors,) often help to snip more precisely & easily into very tight/awkward corners. I’ll often reach for these instead of a seam ripper depending on the task. The lock-close mechanism keeps them and me protected. They are not too heavy, but the blades are made of quality metal, that cuts razor sharp edges & thread ends…as long as the blade doesn’t get nicked up by use on non-fabric/thread materials ;-) Fiskars Spring-loaded scissors have saved my hands after carpal tunnel surgery; allowing me to enjoy more years of sewing. ... show more

This is my second pair of these snippers. My first pair is only a year old and still work like new. With this purchase I am now able to have one at my sewing machine and one by the serger. They instantly snip a clean cut with need to strike at your item again. I can get right to the base of the thread in a seam leaving it precise and neat Yes they are a higher price point than some you cam buy at 5 pair for $8 but those do not hold up, come with oil on them so as not to rust, etc., in other words you get what you pay for. I bought Fiskars 6 inch easy action scissors for making rag quilts. These are very sharp and dont go thru a lot of layers (ok for me) . I like them very much.

I have an old pair of Fiskars that have lost their sharp edge so the key here will be the length of time they serve the purpose.
