  • Great Tool!
Style: Pro IsoCore 1.5lb Pick/Mattock
Very good quality. Sturdy. Fantastic for getting tough woody weeds out of your flower beds or garden! Not too heavy, but not a light weight. A whole lot easier than using the full size version.

  • Fantastik Pickaxe
Style: Pro IsoCore 1.5lb Pick/Mattock
I use this for digging out the roots of like 2-inch diameter shrub/tree kind of things. It worked great! I had been using a full-size pickax, but this thing is much more efficient. You can get down on your knees and immediately begin digging all around the various roots with incredible power. For the most part I was using the large end of the pickax not the small. The large end is not really super sharp but you can smash into roots with it and eventually break them in half. The pickax has enough weight where you can really lay into something. If you can dig down a few inches and get some roots into view and then cut them with a chainsaw, you can then attach a heavy strap or chain around the bush or small tree and connect it to a come-along alias winch and power out the whole bush or tree in a couple minutes of cranking. This is my preferred method for digging out large bushes, shrubs and small trees. And finally the pickax looks like it’s made really well and won’t break. I’m going to buy another one just for a back up because I definitely don’t want to use any other product. ... show more

  • Great tool
Style: Pro IsoCore 1.5lb Pick/Mattock
While it is a little pricey it was worth it. I reset some sprinklers and had to get thru some hard dirt near the edge of the sidewalk. I was able to get down and work around the edges of the existing pipe and edge of sidewalk without goofing anything up. It has a good weight to it so it broke up the soil. Well, the same time I was able to control it and not break the sprinkler line. Very sturdy tool. ... show more

  • Excellent hand digging tool
Style: Pro IsoCore 1.5lb Pick/Mattock
Typical Fiskars quality. Excellent balance and weight. Used it to dig a trench for retaining wall and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend for a hand digging tool.

  • Great little tool but handle too short by at least 5".
Style: Pro IsoCore 1.5lb Pick/Mattock
Bought this to use in digging up willow, alder & aspen root balls instead of just mowing. Kept sharpened, this tool works great, but would work better, IMHO, by having a longer handle, 20"-22". One has to bend over too far when using this tool, which is hard on lower back.

  • amazing quality, strong steel
Style: Pro IsoCore 1.5lb Pick/Mattock
If you are used to the cheap chinese plastic orange-handle (or yellow or green handle) hand-pick mattocks, then the main difference here is that it's maybe a half pound heavier, the rear spade is maybe an inch wider, and the steel pick and handle are all-around much better quality. The only thing in this realm would be the Estwing Burpee rock pick for quality which is a little longer and not curved at the pick. The wide spade end of the pick is great for prying rocks. If this is priced below $40, it is a great deal, but I would get one for anything up to $60 and feel like it was worth it. ... show more
