  • Fantastic introduction to pretend play
There are so many great things about this playhouse. I’ll start with the fact that it’s brightly colored, but not totally hideous. Our home is pretty small, so I was concerned this would just take up a lot of space and be ugly. It’s actually quite adorable, and we’re able to tuck it away (under a desk, between couches, etc.) fairly easily. My fiancé put it together in about 35 minutes. The instructions were clear, with both text and colored images. There’s also a section at the end that explains the features of each stage (which buttons to push to get it to say what, etc.) The AA batteries needed for the toy are not included. No big deal, but worth mentioning. My son is almost 8months old, and this toy, per the box and listing, is designed for ages 6mos-36mos. I thought it seemed a little advanced, but there aren’t many ‘playhouse’ type things for his age, because often times there are small pieces included. This set IS a little advanced for my 8month old, however, it’s not unsafe for him to play with. There are so many cute, educational features. There are 3 ‘stages’, which are easily changed from 1-3 using a switch on the pretend doorbell. The stages/playhouse are supposed to grow with your child. We’ve primarily used level 1 for my son so far, but I’ve played around with the other levels and features and they’re as expected. I love the fact that level 3 is focused on pretend play, which is so important for toddlers to learn. There’s also a little garden trellis and window flower box with spinning flowers that can be moved back and forth for learning shape matching. The little table ‘inside’ the house is great for open-ended pretend play when he gets older. It looks like it could be a desk or even a little workbench – we’ll use our imagination when the time comes! As for the original built-in songs – if you’re a mother of a baby 2 or under, you’re probably at least familiar with the infamous Fisher Price purple monkey mat. The built-in songs in the playhouse are NOT as good as the purple monkey mat soundtrack, but it’s a close second, lol. I’m sure I’ll have these new ones memorized by the end of the week, haha! All in all, I’m impressed with this. Right now, I’m hoping it will encourage my 8 month old to start pulling himself up, as most of the best features of this toy are a little higher up. The age range is a little low to start at 6 months, however, it seems perfectly safe (no small parts, etc.) and my son is always supervised during play. It’ll just take some growing into. This would be a great birthday gift for a 1 year old. ... show more

  • Great Interactive Features
My just-turned-two-year-old loves this, and so do I. It has a bunch of interactive features, with three different levels of songs and sounds. The first level has a few songs and a lot of "yellow doorbell", "light on" descriptive phrases, while the third level doesn't have any descriptions, just conversation phrases like "come in" and "let's feed the fish"; level 2 has a mix of both. There's a small red switch to adjust the levels on the side of the doorbell, and my child is able to change them by himself, which isn't a big deal; he loves all of the levels because they all have songs. Most of the sounds are clear and the songs are bouncy, which is great for this age. The building itself is sturdy; my toddler has sat on the table and stood on the green "grass" and pulled on the frame, but it hasn't tipped over or snapped. My toddler is taller than the playhouse, but he can crawl through the door and kneel at the table without issue. The set-up was a little frustrating, but knowing there are metal screws holding the pieces together is reassuring. I had two issues with the set-up, but neither was big enough to take off a star. 1) the roof was hard to line up and snap together; the pieces still don't quite line up and are a slightly different shade of blue. 2) some of the holes for the screws were very deep; my usual screwdriver, with removable tips, couldn't fit in far enough. I had to find a basic, long-ended screw driver in order to finish putting the screws in. It wasn't the end of the world but it would have been nice to have a screw driver come with it that was long enough. The non-electronic aspects of the playhouse are cute. My toddler originally played with this without batteries (because we didn't have AAs in the house), and he enjoyed dropping the balls into the drainspout, putting the mail in the slot, and matching the shapes of the flowers. I do wish the shapes were more distinct; the edges are rounded to the point that the triangle and heart are rather blobby. Overall, this is a delightful house that we hope to get a lot of play time out of. It's worth the price, especially because of the sturdiness and variety of sounds and songs. We highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Fun toy but a hassle to set up
I had to install about 16 screws into some small and tight spaces to fully set it up. But in the end the end product was worth it and fun for the kids. The pictures the toy actually looks bigger but in real life it's actually not that big. My kids have to crawl under the roof to be able to open the door. They can't just walk through it. But the reason I gave it 3 stars is because the pieces that I received they look like they were about to break already meaning that the plastic was turning white at some of the joints which also means that there was already some sort of pressure being put on it before I received it. I thought that I would receive everything that was essentially in brand new condition but through manufacturing then some items where probably push to the point where they were about to break. So my toy unit here has a lot of white spots on the plastic pieces. ... show more

  • Truly the ULTIMATE Playhouse
Our toddler absolutely loved her 'House with the Big Red Door,' but sharing wasn't easy with her new sister. To solve the problem, we got them this fantastic 'Ultimate' Playhouse. It's the perfect shared play space, combining bright colors with a tasteful design. This adorable playhouse sets up quickly and can be easily stored away when not in use. Like other Fisher-Price toys, it features three stages that adjust as your child grows. The first stage offers simple songs and phrases, while the third stage focuses on conversational prompts. The second stage includes a mix of both. The playhouse also features a garden trellis with spinning flowers for shape matching fun. The little table inside is perfect for open-ended pretend play, encouraging creativity and imagination. With no small parts, it's safe for even the youngest toddlers. ... show more
