My 8 year old and husband love it! It does pretty good driving in dry sand and will pick up and dump. I like that it actually swivels all the way around. It’s not super fast but it doesn’t need to be for what it’s doing. I’ll probably get a backup battery for it- it lasts a decent amount of time, about 20 minutes, takes a couple hours to charge but thats pretty typical. Very happy I got it!

- Very impressed with the run time. My son has played with it (indoors) for more than an hour and it keeps going. - It weighs about 3 pounds with batteries. The ad says it weighs 6 pounds (perhaps a shipping weight). Either way, in part I bought this excavator because it said it was heavy and I thought that meant substantial. It's not. - The ad also says "Die Cast". Most associate that term with metal. Looks like some of these units came with a metal bucket but ours did not. It is ABS plastic. The excavator body is almost entirely plastic except for a few small parts. - I cannot imagine this toy lasting if it is used outside, in sand / dirt on a regular basis. Does not seem built well enough to handle that. - The included battery pack was not charged when we received it. It was very tough for our son to wait for it to be charged so you may want to hold off showing to your kids before the battery is charged. It's packaged separately on the very bottom of the styrofoam packaging so it can easily be removed and charged without disrupting the other packaging your child may want to open for themselves. - The battery pack, to my surprise, was NiCad. Not lithium-ion or NiMh. I was mostly surprised because I haven't seen NiCad anything in years. Lithium ion is expensive, so that makes sense. NiMh has more capacity than NiCad but doesn't like to be discharged fast. I'm guessing this toy doesn't discharge the batteries fast enough to *require* NiCad but I need to read more on that. - The battery pack charger is a USB charger. Charge times are *very* long (more than 2 hours). - The bucket on this excavator has a bit limited of a range when clasping objects or holding material you don't want to spill. I wish it closed tighter than it does. - More later ...

Just delivered today and charged it , charger got a bit warm but nothing to loose sleep over . The Rc works as should with no problems I would buy 5 more .

I just received this excavator yesterday and have had some operating time to find out how it works. Seeing as how i work with the real machines every day in my line of work, i was skeptical to say the least. This machine became available through amazon warehouse and i decided to give it shot, and im glad i did. Movements are very realistic and i felt like i was on the job moving material. Its winter here so i put some popcorn in a bowl and loaded out of that into my 4 and a half year old sons rc dump truck. We had an absolute blast doing this in our livingroom. I was nervous after reading some of the reviews but i believe this is a great toy for the cost. Without traveling around much, I got about 45 minutes to an hour of play time off a fully charged battery. I purchased 2 more batteries through amazon for 18.00 when i bought this so that will be more than enough playtime. The only negatives i found was that the bucket could curl in a bit more, when traveling it seems the left track is slightly faster so it slowly turns right, and the batteries take 2-3 hours to fully charge. Ive yet to see how it handles sand and dirt but it seems like itll do fine. The best advice i could give is that if you are thinking about purchasing this, go online and watch some videos of it in action. There are plenty out there and will give you a good idea if this machine will do what you are looking for. Happy excavating!!!

I bought this for my 8 year old son and he loves it. I have used it also, now I use it more than him. I'm like a little kid all over again. It is so realistic and life like, it's like you are using a real excavator. The movements are so cool, the bucket can pick up a good amount of stuff and weight. The arm booms and lowers, the tracks drive good. This thing is so cool for kids and adults. I have no complaints about it.

WARNING! If you see an add for this or any other toy on facebook at a cheaper price DON'T DO IT! Buy it from here! If you are looking for something amazing you wont find that with this toy. If you want something fun to play around with at a decent price then here you go. It will dig in sand but not as smooth as the video shows. It will take a bit of controler work to do it. Sand will get into the gears and bugger it up so a regular shake out is required. It is gear driven and yes you can hear them and will click at the end of the gear or if there is something stopping it. The lights and sound don't work on mine but the smile on my two little boys face when I brought it out to dig in the sand box with them was worth every penny I spent.

This toy is very well made and has quite a bit of power for being mostly plastic; The usb charging cable that comes with it seems useless because the battery in the excavator is over 7 volts and most usb sources are 5 volts so you could never get the battery up to full charge with it, I didn't give the durability more than 3 stars because it's too early to tell how it will hold up: Nice toy and should be a lot of fun for any kid: The toy has 15 channels, which means it can do 15 separate movements, including load a toy truck with dirt, but I would not recommend playing with dirt or sand and opt for something cleaner and lighter like maybe legos or toy cars

If the controller didn't come used. It worked so that's all that matters I suppose, but for almost 90$ which is what I paid for it you would think they would take a little more priced amd care in there product. There were ding marks and scratches all over it. There were sticky marks where stickers have been ripped off. The Excavator was fine and works great. Only reason I dint return it was because it was a Christmas gift for my son and if I would have asked for a refund I wouldn't have received it in time. So I cleaned the controller which took forever, but I was able to get most of the dirt off.
