Easy to put together, the gloves and wood carrier are great! But, I was expecting the actual tool to be a good deal larger, especially with it saying it's an XXL. Also, it's great for kindling and it does help with the larger pieces of wood with some extra effort but it's not as easy to cut the larger peices like they show in the video. And unless you have it screwed down, it's not as stable as the video which is understandable but in the video it definitely looks larger, sharper, and easier to cut large peices. But it is great for smaller peices and for kindling. I'm still happy I got it but was hoping for a little better quality for the larger wood peices. ... show more

My husband was so excited for this gift but less than a month later the part that the log leans against to keep it in place broke. It didn't appear very sturdy and snapped off. We are very disappointed. Not sure if a manufacturing defect or if poorly mad. Should have lasted longer than a month.

I ordered this so I could split cut pieces for kindling. If you’re burning pine or other soft woods then this might work for you. Concept is good but capability is limited. If you have dense woods like oak or similar for BBQ, save your money. This doesn’t even bite the wood. Gave it 2 stars because I now have a carrying bag. ... show more

I was shocked at how much of a failure this was. I purchased based on many good reviews. Yet I had NO success in splitting any wood. I tried new and seasoned wood, of several diameters. I could not get even one to split. In fact, the best that ever happened was an indentation of the wood surface. I really cannot understand how badly this performed. I chose this also because of the allowance for larger diameter logs. Well, that didn't matter because none of the various diameters could be split. I'd really like to know what, if anything, I did wrong. I am amazed that this didn't work as described. ... show more

It was very easy to put together. Beautiful bag and gloves, but no way were you just splitting the wood with a few hits of a hammer. I live in Idaho wood stoves is a way of living here. I tried several times splitting it and you need a sludge hammer. I’m not a little person and very active. We have red & white fur wood here which is a bit tougher. It’s nowhere near that easy unless you have super dry wood that cut in very small pieces ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I made my husband do the hard stuff because I don’t split logs but ever since he got it, it’s used constantly lol. It didn’t need any instructions because it’s self explanatory. Three screws and they provide the Allen wrench and it’s assembled. Log carrier bag is made well.
