This is a inexpensive alternative to some of the other wood splitters. It works well for splitting smaller logs. Solid steel and fairly sharp. The only negative is that the screws that are provided to fasten it down are not big enough for the abuse that the splitter is taking.

A small tap from the sledgehammer and it stuck onto the splitting blade and then a love tap and presto you have kindling. No big deal to use. Cracked enough kindling in 10 minutes that would last me a month.

It’s smaller than I thought. But it seems pretty solid. Comes with screws to mount it to a sturdy surface. The tip seems sharp enough to do the job. I will update review once it’s time to slit wood for the winter.

This product may be the next best thing to a hydraulic log splitter and a lot more inexpensive. A great idea for sure. You just screw this item onto the wood round you are using for splitting and pound the log down on the point. It's much easier to place the log just how you want it and you use less effort versus a traditional splitting maul or axe. I just used the backside of my splitting maul which is a sledge hammer already. You're much less likely to damage the handle of your axe or maul and it's safer as well. ... show more

This thing works amazingly. I screwed it down onto the stump and then went into splitting mode. This split logs 20" across with much less effort than my normal method of axe splitting.
