This drone kit is very different from everything else on the market. Its focus is on teaching kids to fly a drone safely with lessons and training wheels. If you are an adult looking to get into the drone hobby, I would pass over this. Setup: Setting everything up and taking it out of the box is an experience in itself. The kit brings to life a comic character and story with lots of pictures, documentation, and QR codes to get started. You download the app and set up your kit and account. Then it gives you lots of videos on getting started. You will need to bind the controller and drone together before you can take off. Experience: The app helps to teach you the basics of learning to fly. It gives you a very slow and easy experience to move the drone around. As you use it, you get achievements and points to “upgrade” the drone that make it faster in different directions using the app. You level up as you go and feel like you are in an RPG game, leveling up and upgrading your gear. This makes for an engaging and fun experience for kids. As an adult, I really just wanted full control from the beginning to customize it as I want without the hoops to jump through. Hardware: This kit is quite affordable, and the hardware shows it. The controller feels very hollow and cheap. It deviates heavily also from a typical drone controller to try and be more like a gamepad. The drone uses entirely proprietary parts, cheap plastics, and brushed motors. The batteries are easy to charge with a USB-C cable and use a large 900mAh 1S battery with a PH2.0 connector. Once you outgrow this kit, none of the hardware is reusable. Conclusion: If you are trying to get your kids into drones, I think this is a great way to do it. I would definitely opt for the goggles and FPV camera option as it will make this kit a lot more fun. They will likely get several weeks of entertainment out of this and be ready for something bigger and faster when they are done. If you are an adult, you will be left feeling held back, getting cheap hardware, and left with a tedious experience.

I’m absolutely loving the Firefly Smart Combo Mini Drone for my kids! It’s the perfect balance of fun and easy-to-use, with tons of cool features that keep both kids and adults entertained. The HISINGY Firefly Smart Combo Mini Drone is Rather Disappointing. Honestly I was expecting to see a Entry Level Drone with Video Hardware that would attract the Younger Pilots, or anyone really that is interested in Learning to Fly Drones FPV. This is Not So, the HISINGY Firefly Smart Combo Mini Drone is a Barebones Drone & Controller Package, There are No Extra Batteries, Not a Single Replacement Propeller, Nor any Camera or Video Equipment Whatsoever Included with the Drone Set. Flying the HISINGY Firefly Smart Combo Mini Drone is Very Easy using the BareBones Controller, keep in mind that the Propellers are located facing down which can be a hazard if you plan on landing the Drone in your Hand, On Grass, Etc. I have been Flying RC for well over Fifty Five Years, in that time I have landed my Small Gliders & Drones using my hand more times that I can count, After All It's Fun Too. Lastly - The Stripped Down Barebones Controller becomes a issue as it has no provisions for adding the Additional Buttons & Keys Necessary to Operate ANY FPV Camera System First Person on the Firefly, Basically you are then Stuck Flying the Drone with Their APP after Adding the Hardware or Buying Another Controller From HISINGY with the Proper Controller Layout for the FPV Firefly. I like Flying My Birds by Hand, while I do Teach those interested in Mapping & Flying Courses with a Drone (It's Really a Fun Part of Flying Too!) All Apps have there Limitations, In General they Fail to Teach the Basics of Controlling & the Coordination to Fly By Hand, which anyone Flying a Drone should be Proficient & Familiar with to Safely Fly ANY Drone. I gave the HISINGY Firefly Smart Combo Mini Drone a Single Star. While it is a Easy Drone to Fly, The Downward Facing Propeller Blades limit you to Landing on Flat Surfaces, Obviously the Overall Cost to Add the FPV Accessories is Cost Prohibited. There are Plenty of Durable & Reliable Reasonable Priced Entry Level Drones Online that will allow you to learn to Fly First Person using a Simple Cell Phone for the Video. Simply Put; The HISINGY FireFly Is Not One Of Them.

This is a fun little drones but its not the same controlls as fpv, its a regular drone and the motors are not really strong enough for outdoors, so it's really just for indoors unless you have zero wind
