These are great little fire starters/fire aids. I am currently in Florida and the humidity is crazy! These little wonders give my fire a little boost to get going. I tend to place one at the heart of my fire, then light tender around it then break one of these up and sprinkle the bits around mixed in with tender and small sticks, it does the job well. They don't have a chemical smell and I appreciate that.

These work great, but a little smaller size compared to the other pricey ones that I'm used to. The size of each stick is not consistent with some being small and some being double size. Not really an issue, as you do get a lot and 1 or 2 can easily start the charcoal or firewood. Plus they burn for a long time. I like these way better than the other firestarters with the lighter fluid smell. I feel safer keeping this in the garage or car when going camping as there are no chemical smells.

I've never lit a fire so easily in my life. I just switched to hard wood this winter(soft wood lights easier but burns less efficiently) and it's been a struggle to get a fire going each night with all my home grown methods. I've been doing it but it takes a long time to get the hard wood going, no matter what I did. Till now. This is my first time using a commercial fire-starter. So I can't compare to other brands but I was really doubtful about them. I also thought I needed to do some special method but after seeing a video of someone just using this and wood, no kindling or anything, I gave them a shot and it works. I cleaned the ash from the stove, left the cold coals and tossed some wood shaving over them, but that part probably wasn't needed. I saw a video of someone just using wood and the starter. I put one starter under 2 large pieces of wood(half log round each) resting on another piece of wood in front and lit it and it lit fast and got the wood burning fast once it was going. I didn't put a 4th piece in back because my stove doesn't seem burn as efficiently in the back and it always winds up slanting forward by evening's end. The people having issue may be using unseasoned wood. I got my wood from a supplier certified, by the county clean air board, to sell seasoned wood. When wood is properly seasoned it will light easier and burn more efficiently. Using some kindling would also help but I had it light just fine without.
