i got this for my sister's new ipad, and here are some things i think you should know before buying. the case is very good quality and thick & tough enough that it won't break or bend easily. you can also rotate the ipad on the case to the best viewing angle for you. however, there are only 2 dents in the case flap (the flap that covers your screen) that make viewing angles lower than my liking. so, if you want more variety into the viewing degrees of your ipad, this might not be the best case for you. i also got the fintie case for my galaxy s8+ tablet and it came with an acrylic smell, but i don't quite remember if this one also came with that smell. no worries though because the smell fades within several hours to a couple of days.

My first impression of this case is that it has a very nice appearance and looks sturdy. My wife remarked that she likes the way it looks, which verified my observation. Only time will tell if it indeed stands up to daily use. The covering is a synthetic material that in my experience does not wear well over time but looks very durable in spite of that. The grain on the material gives it a nice leathery look. The swivel works very smoothly, making it easy to flip into the positions I need to work in, and the 2 grooves are deep enough to keep it standing in either position without being easily knocked out of position. All of the cutouts for the various iPad controls are very well placed and offer no obstruction to any of them. The sleep position turn-off seems to be hit or miss at best, but once it is off and you secure it with the built-in elastic strap it usually stays off. I have ordered an after-market pen for my 8th Generation iPad and will update this review to comment on the fit and utility of the pen recess after it is delivered, and I get a chance to put it through its paces.

I purchased my original iPad cover in March 1922. It has worn well I use it all day long. The outside looks pretty brand new and the only reason I am replacing it is because I want a different color! On the inside cover, it has gotten dirty overtime. I’ve had it outside with suntan lotion on me and inside and so the inside is little dirty,, and I haven’t used any cleaners on it. Other than me not keeping it clean the quality of the iPad cover is great! Which is why I’m buying a second one because I’m happy with the quality of this. I’ve had no issues reading it in the propped up vertical or horizontal position. Yes, the grooves are a little shallow and sometimes when I’m sitting on my couch and it’s in my lap, it’ll slip out of the groove, but it is not a constant problem. I would definitely recommend it!
