    • Good replacement for the original Kindle shell
The hard plastic case for the first Kindle Fire began breaking down this year. Amazon made the original case and it was perfect, but the plastic for the latch began crumbling this year and it was not easy to be sure about a replacement for it. It wasn't just the size that had to match. The location for the plug continued to change as the Fire evolved over time. This well-designed third party case made the most of Kindle's ability to recognize how it is being held in a way that works for several of the early changes. Even though my Kindle is now upside down when i open the case, it doesn't affect the camera or display and I can still charge the Kindle without taking off the case. The only issue is that this new case is designed with a folding "front," so It doesn't rest open on a shelf as securely. It has never collapsed, but I do have to be very careful how I stand it up. There are worse problems that having a well designed digital device that still works great ten years later. ... show more

Well made. Stitching appears to be strong and properly sewn. The cover fits well, holding the Fire HD very well in both horizontal and vertical modes. The cover turns the HD off each time I close it and turns on each time I open it. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars because the tab on the cover that is used to create the triangle making it into a stand works, but I do not know how long it will do so because of the hinge arrangement. If this hinge holds up after a few more months, then I will update this review. After a few months of using the Kindle almost nightly to read, I have found this case to be of very good quality. The only fault that I have is the slot in the cover for the power connection (so you can attach the power cord) is situated in a manner that causes a binding problem. Let me try to explain. I read with the Kindle in a vertical, or portrait, orientation, and, for the most part, I use my Kindle plugged in 90% of the time. If the cover is closed and you plug the power cord into the side of your Kindle, when you go to open the cover and use your Kindle, the covers slot is not big enough to pass around the cord without holding it in place to bend the cover back into its tri-fold arrangement. This binds on the cord and puts stress on the plug's connector and/or the port on the Kindle. It is a hassle and somewhat troubling design. But this is more an issue with the Kindle design as the cover makers must follow those port locations. I would still give this cover a 4.5 rating. It was inexpensive, yet protects the Kindle well. All of its other characteristics (color, fit, stitching, durability, etc) are excellent. ... show more

Kindle Fire HD newb' new here - and after I finally ordered my KFHD, I spent some time deciding on which Case I was going to order for my HD. Price, reviews, looks, ease of use, and durability (protection), auto sleep/wake, and one that could hold a Stylus pen as an additional accessory - were definite factors in my choice. Well, the Fintie brand seemed to encase all those in my final deciding factor! I also liked that Fintie had an additional discount if you were to purchase their Stylus pen at purchase (that also had good reviews). The case arrived at the same time as my KFHD and it was fairly simple to place the KFHD inside the case. I like the fact that it is very easy to "slip" inside and remove via the built in "velcro fold tab". Placement of the case into the stand position was very simple and it stayed strong for as long as I needed it to. Also, folding the cover back behind into a reading stance was also very comfortable and durable - one that I find myself using as a "book type feature" more and more. :) When closing the case and reopening from Auto Sleep to Wake - I have not ran into any problems. The KFHD has always turned itself back on. So far the case itself is very strong and durable. For me, it is very sleek looking, it covers all the openings/ports very well and hasn't blocked any needed access. The Fintie Stylus Pen that I ordered along with fits in the pen slot very well - and I would assume if you were to purchase another type Stylus pen it should be able secure there just the same. I trust my KFHD in this Fintie Case, and I would say that at $14.99 the price point is very fair - and I would definitely purchase another one again! ***** Stars on a well made product! :) ... show more
