First off, please note that this product listing changed. It was originally for an attachable violin headrest and that's it. That is what this review is for. That said, for a student or beginner, this is pretty good add-on for their violin. For starters, it's comfortable to use - offering a curved design that fits against your shoulder nicely, allowing one to hold the violin in place hands-free if need be. It attaches easily, and my wife didn't notice much slippage when using it. That said, it did come loose once or twice during extended practice sessions, requiring it to be reseated. Wouldn't mind the grip on the violin itself to be stronger. However, that's the only issue she found with it. Happy to have it on her instrument otherwise.

Perfect as far as I can see, bought for nine year old granddaughter. First it didn't make any sound, but some google research told us about rosining your bow, scratch the rosin and add to bow until you have sound. I didn't know about that! Nice case, two bows and very nice violin!

Good quality rest for my grandad's old fiddle. So good, in fact, that I may put it on my Stradivarius when I get it back from the pawn shop. It's quite comfy and stays in place very well.

This fits easily onto my daughter's full size violin (4/4). It has holes to adjust to the smaller size, which we don't have, but the larger settings match the 4/4 perfectly. It attached securely, and doesn't move much at all on the violin. So stable enough for use. The padding is nice, it has a reasonable cushion that provides good support, and the shape is nice. It looks good on the violin, although the color is different. What it lacks is flexibility to rotate. Many of these shoulder rests have the ability to rotate at each end, so the angle of the rest relative to the violin can change. This doesn't have that at all, it is a completely fixed piece. So if it works for you as is, or you can move it on your shoulder for the curvature of the violin, it is supportive and a good fit. If not, then choose one with rotation. See pictures for side by side comparison. That lack of rotation also means it doesn't fit into the violin case quite as well, because the legs don't fold down unless you take them off. So a little bit more effort to put it away each night. For $15 at the time of review, there are a variety of shoulder rests that have more flexibility; this is not the best value if you like the flexibility to rotate in the way my daughter expects and uses on her violin. If you like the fixed style, this is attractive and well made. But the lack of flexibility knocks it down from the type my daughter prefers.

This review is for a chin rest only. It fits my full size violin well. It feels comfortable on my shoulder. I included a picture so you can see the shape of the chin rest. I have three chin rests now and each is slightly different shaped. This one is at the bottom as I upload the picture. This one is my most curved of the ones I own. It makes almost an S shape. I like the feel on the shoulder, it is comfortable and the tilt it gives the violin when I play is comfortable. I am including the picture in case the overall shape is important to you. The padding of the chin rest is a good amount and squishy. But it is new, I can't say how it well hold up for years yet. My other chin rests are years to decades old. The chin rest is very lightweight. Overall it is very good! This review is for the chin rest only, that's what I ordered and that's what I got, not a kit.
