This is my first magnet for fishing. Even though it's 500 lbs on each side it's pretty heavy duty! I pulled that big chunk of cement with a pole in it from the middle of a big pond. The magnet is super strong. The rope that came with it sucks though. It started to frey with the first use. I would highly recommend a 100 foot 550 paracord rope. Would also recommend tying the rope directly to the eyelet because the carabiner sticks very easily to the magnet! This is a honest review from my experience using this kit!

I am brand new to magnet fishing. I just went over the weekend for the first time and tossed this into the water roughly 30-40 times. Within the first 10, I was noticing some bad splitting of the cover of the rope. The magnet managed the snag me a few small items (giant bolt, washers, spring, fishing hooks, etc.) that I can say are my first magnet fishing treasures! I did, however, get caught on some insanely big/heavy object and had a helluva time pulling the magnet off. This was actually a very promising thing as most, if not anything I try to pull up, shouldn't have any issues staying stuck. The rope also did not break, which is wonderful, however, I will be replacing it after having used it for just 1 trip, so, basically this makes your magnet $30 as the gloves are mediocre at best. Still absolutely stellar for a $30 purchase. I would highly recommend it. I went through Reddit posts to try to find the best ropes and managed to find that paracord is typically what is used. I have decided to go with a 1100 paracord, even though the 550 is likely enough for anything I'll be pulling up, but for just a few bucks extra, I think it'll be worth having that little extra safety net. Long story short, read title. Great magnet, bad rope.

This barely picked up the eyelet that you screw in to hold the rope..!!!! What a piece of Crap.!! Don't waste ANY money on this.

Magnet is easy to lever off solid steel with just bare hands, probably closer to a 3-400lb class magnet. Not a bad choice for picking up iron shavings from the floor, but not great at pulling steel from a river bed. Rope, threadlocker are okay quality. About what you'd expect for 20 bucks, but they need to revisit their strength estimate..
