These are the equivalent to the basic filters (low merv number 8) from the big box stores for half the cost. They do a fine job, and at this price I can change them out every two months or whenever I detect the air not smelling as fresh anymore. When I had my furnace serviced and cleaned over the years, the techs advise AGAINST the higher merv rated filters (the ones that list more elements that get filtered out) since the tighter weave makes the furnace work harder to bring-in air, and my older furnace doesn't need that extra strain.
