I purchased three of the FR112C gallon counting pumps. I've spoken with the manufacturer about my issues. Although the pumps do self prime to some degree, they don't do it well. After replacing what I thought was a defective counter, I determined that the all plastic counters are only counting rotations of the pump handle and disassembling and reassembling I conclude that the fairly open to the air plastic gears and bearings won't stand the test of dirt and time. They do count rotations correctly when new. More tests resealing unions with teflon, trying different fluids such as diesel and gasoline, proved that these pumps are very inconsistent in how much fluid they deliver per revolution of the handle. The pumps take between 50 and 85 rotations of the handle to fill the same 5 gallon can from a full 55 gallon drum, whether gasoline or diesel. For example last night I filled a 5 gallon can of gas with 85 rotations. Repeating this morning took 70 rotations from the same pump. The problem is certainly partially an issue of poor self priming. Even if the pump does prime, perhaps when the pump sits for a time the fluid evaporates or partially drains back into the drum so that it must be reprimed. The pumps also are highly variable in how they are manufactured or assembled internally as some pumps are very close to 50 rotations for 5 gallons while others are always more like 75-85 rotations. I recommend only purchasing the pumps without counters and find another way to meter fuel. The counters are not only stupid expensive for what they are, they are of limited use in determining how much fluid you've pumped and probably won't stand the test of time. I also recommend using a fuel filter funnel or some other kind of filter when pumping with these pumps, particularly when they are new. I have gotten a lot of metal as well as red paint from all three pumps when new. Although the paint has decreased significantly after the first 10-20 gallons I still get plenty of small metal particles from each. ... show more

Amazon forces us to give a star rating, so I had to check only one. This pump may work for very low viscosity liquids, but not for cool glycerin. Threaded installation into a 55-gal plastic tank too weak. Pumping action way too hard and slow.
