Features

  • The FiiO K17 is the first to feature a discrete amplifier circuit, utilizing an OP + transistor current-driving headphone amplifier design. It is equipped with the On Semiconductor MJE243G/253G classic complementary pair, enabling high-current, low-impedance output. The balanced output power reaches up to 4000mW+4000mW, effortlessly driving both large headphones and in-ear monitors. The sound is smooth, natural, and melodious, delivering a pleasant listening experience.
  • The device uses the AKM flagship DAC chip combination AK4191 + AK4499EX*2, with each AK4499EX handling one channel. This is paired with an 8-channel to 4-channel LPF design to reduce common-mode interference, resulting in better separation and dynamics. Additionally, it features a fully separated digital/analog structure based on a new design technology, incorporating the newly developed "DWA ROUTING technology" to further purify the background and enhance resolution.
  • The FiiO K17 is equipped with the professional DSP chip M21586Q and the high-performance ADC ES9821Q, complemented by a custom-designed ultra-low phase noise femtosecond crystal oscillator. It offers a 31-band professional-grade high-precision lossless PEQ adjustment function across all input modes. This allows for simulation or correction of headphone frequency response curves.
  • The FiiO K17 supports multiple input options, including single-ended line input, balanced line input, USB decoding, Bluetooth decoding, optical decoding, and coaxial decoding. The USB decoding uses the XMOS 16-core chip XU316, supporting 768kHz/32bit, DSD512, and full MQA decoding. Bluetooth decoding is powered by the Qualcomm QCC5125 chip, featuring Bluetooth 5.1 and supporting aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, LDAC, and other codecs. For streaming, it supports Roon Ready and AirPlay, giving you access to a vast array of streaming sources. Local playback is supported via external USB drives and portable hard drives, allowing you to enjoy your precious collection of audio files.
  • The K17 features a custom-designed 3.93-inch LCD screen, allowing for quick switching between various settings and functions via touch controls. It also includes five independent control knobs, supporting one-button standby, and enabling fast adjustments for volume, gain, output, and more. The device comes with an infrared remote control for convenient long-distance operation, allowing you to easily switch between work modes, select EQ settings, and adjust volume.

  • K17 and Roon issues
Color: Black
Update: My K17 got into serious trouble today. Suddenly, it failed to grab the IP address (it's using an Ethernet cable). It means the streaming did not work at all. After the last firmware upgrade, the streaming has been working fine for two days. Now, it's just getting stuck no matter how many times I reboot it. Update: I can claim the last K17 firmware updates, Main controller firmware V183 and MCU firmware V87, fixed the issues I encountered with Roon earlier. I got my K17 from Amazon yesterday, hooked it up, and successfully updated the firmware. I connected it to my home network via the Ethernet cable. Roon Sever could find it and included it in one of my Roon Ready devices (I have WiiM Ultra and Node 2i Roon Ready devices too). I tried to play music via Roon, and it started well. No complaints! However, after I stopped listening to Roon's music and tried to play more songs afterwards (let's say 2 or 3 minutes later), the K17 disappeared from my home network automatically. It had to reboot K17 to get it back to normal. Did it disconnect the network automatically after I stopped Roon's music playing? It happened repeatedly, and it was so annoying. This kind of issue never happens with the WiiM Ultra and Node 2i. I can stop & play Roon's music via WiiM Ultra or Node 2i without problems all day. I guess it has something related to the K17 firmware (I got and installed the latest one from FiiO though). Hope the company can fix this issue ASAP! ... show more

  • Opinion based solely on the headphone amp features
Color: Silver
I decided to buy this amplifier to replace my Jotunheim 2 by Schiit. All of the extra wingdings were bonuses of the amp, but the sole reason why I bought this amplifier was to use it as a headphone amp primarily. Speaking of the headphone amp function as the main function of this amp, this is a truly outstanding device. All of my headphones, IEMs included, play extremely well with the K17. No hissing, no problems. The sound seems to be more weighty than with the Jot 2. The sound is fuller and richer than with the Jot 2. Every time I try a new headphone of my collection with this amplifier, I am truly blown away. Everything sounds good with this, and the K17 doesn't color the sound. It can with EQ if you want it to, but it's not a requirement. There are presets for most genres of music and then there are additional presets that you can set with an application on the computer. The thing that really gets me with the K17 is the amount of control you have over the volume level with this amp. There are 5 gain modes, and while that may seem like too many, for really hard to drive planars, to really sensitive IEMs, this amp can work with them all, flawlessly. I can't speak too much on the other features that this combo unit can do, I really only use it as a headphone amp, and to connect my phone to the amp via Bluetooth, so that I can catch my radio programs. The final thing to take into consideration is if this is worth it to you. The price is very steep. I'd been looking for a new amp for awhile, and I did some research into this specific one. It was worth it for me. The sound the K17 puts out is definitely world class in my opinion, but it is very high in price. ... show more

  • Value-added flagship DAC/Amp
Color: Silver
Update 5/7/25: Roon Ready seems to have been fixed and you can now update firmware OTA. Solid 5 stars. ⭐️ Original Review: I’d say more 4.5 stars… not verified due to buying from an outside small audio shop. And I am an amateur audiophile who found this obsession due to a life-long love of music. My review, as such, is from an amateur. There are not many issues I have with the K17. I’m a veteran Roon user which made the “Roon Ready” a considerable selling point for me. I have had some quirky experiences with the streaming input though. Not so much that the feature becomes unusable, just has some hiccups. For instance, I have experienced intermittent connectivity issues with Roon resulting in the internal streamer not appearing to Roon on my network. This resolves itself pretty quickly with a quick shut down and flip of the power switch on the back. This is an issue I imagine a future firmware update will fix. I see from another review that the writer experienced similar issues with Roon even after updating to the current firmware (as of 4-11-25). I figured I’ll just skip the FW updates until I know a fix is there. I am okay with having to quickly reboot to get back on the network. If I really get annoyed, I’ll just connect my network streamer or a Roon Ready DAP to my K17. But this leads to my only other pet peeve about ease of use… The K17 doesn’t support OTA updates. While this is such a minor issue, and I hate to be a Karen, it’s worth pointing out. Actually it’s a headache… but whatevs (first world problems, I guess?). I’m totally okay with having to download a file to my computer, transfer the file to a flash drive stick, and then plug it in to the back of the K17 to do a local update. But it’s annoying. And I think some people might find it challenging. I’ve said a lot about what I don’t like. But I just like to get the bad out of the way. The great things about the K17 far outweigh the quirky. I bought this DAC/AMP because it uses a similar flagship DAC-set to the Astell&Kern SP3000 series. While not identical (the SP3000 has separate DAC-sets for the unbalanced and balanced outputs). The amp is powerful, easily driving several of my cans and able to drive my high-sensitivity IEMs with no noise. My go-to cans are Focal Utopias and Focal Stellias. IEM used so far is my Campfire Supermoon custom. Having mentioned the SP3000, I have not used it. I own the SP2000. I note the SP3000 because of its universal acclaim for sound quality. I cannot say the K17 represents the sound of the AK SP3000, I just point out the similar. Quickly. The sound quality is sublime. I had put my Utopias aside for several months due to boredom, gravitating toward my IEMs and with a DAP or Chord Mojo 2. When I first hooked the Utopias up to the K17 I was immediately moved by the sound produced. I won’t describe it. But I am in love with a desktop set-up again. This sounds better than my Chord Hugo 2. The sound quality with my Supermoons is great too, but not as exponentially great from my portables. This is pricey for many people, however it is a high-value product for what it features. Even though quirky, it’s one of the only Roon Ready DAC/AMPs you’ll easily find - and it’s the only Roon Ready DAC/AMP you’ll find for under $1k that sounds this good… that has these specs. I’d suggest considering it now should it’s price rise due to tariffs. It’s worth the current price, in my opinion. ... show more
