First off the other comments about the rod butt not fitting square to the stick are accurate, seems the groove that aligns the two parts is not 90° square. Second, THIS IS A #1 SIZE BUTT, NOT #2. You will need a melton tackle addaptor ($35) if you want to use a bent butt. This is all okay for a $70 rod. Honestly impressive, nice overall finish. I was hoping to put a 30w in these but the reel seat is a #4 and was too big. I returned them with no problem but I will say that they felt and looked great for the money. I was looking forward to using them.

Just got this rod today. Picked it up on my way out of town headed for the Texas coast at Rock Port. When I opened the box I was impressed with the apparent quality but, the proof is in the fishing. Took it out to the pier tonight and landed a big beauiful Redfish. It was a pleasure to use the rod to bring in my catch. I mean it really felt great. The whole fight was over much to fast for me. I wanted to toss the hooked fish back and bring it in again. This is one heck of a pole for $50 - unbelievable for the money. If you are on the fence - go for it. P.S. I got the 8 foot model and matched it with a Abu Garcia Revo Inshore Reel - it casts a mile effortlessly with 20 pound braided line. ... show more

It came in two pieces within the same box. It was well wrapped in a rod sleeve. The tip had a special dense foam protective cap as well. Very well packaged. On first inspection the rod looks well made and sturdy and does not look cheap at all. Compared to a $200 rod i just bought by Diawa, I cant tell the difference.
