  • SO BRIGHT
*Update* At some point while riding without the light on, but the mount still attached to the bike, the part of the mount that actually holds the light on fell off. It's a tiny piece of plastic so I didn't even notice it. Fenix's customer support was quick to respond, but didn't offer to replace the part or mount. I ended up having to buy a new mount for $15. This light is spectacular! It's about as bright as the headlights on my car (narrower beam) and the battery lasts way longer than I was expecting. I did a midnight ride up Mt. Saint Helens and used this on its lowest setting on the way up and the highest setting on the way down, and it was flawless. Didn't even dip one bar of battery on the way up, and it was still half full by the time I got back to the car. 20-ish mile ride, maybe 3 hours with the light on. The beam is annoying on my drop handlebars as it picks up the drops and I get weird shadows with it, but it's still super bright. I think the mounting bracket could be a bit larger to accommodate for modern bars that are wider, or have lots of cables on them (particularly on the drop bar), but it works just fine. Very impressed with this light, the mounting clip is really easy to clip on and off so I can take it into the bar or house when I'm not on the bike. And the adjustments left to right are solid. Highly recommend spending the money on this light if you ride at night and want to see and be seen. ... show more

  • A really nice compact light for my commute.
A great combo of features - compact compared to other 21700 lights I have tried, a decent handlebar mount (haven't had it pop off, but still easy to remove, doesn't rattle on rough roads). Four decent brightness levels, the dimmest is actually probably brighter than I need for a daytime running light, the middle two steps work well for the night-time commute home (high is quite bright, but seems like overkill on the road). The single status LED would maybe have been better as a few bars to gauge the relative amount of charge left, but since I can recharge in the light via usb-c, or just swap the battery, that isn't a huge prob. ... show more

  • Excellent Bike Light
I rarely review products, but after buying several bike lights, this one was by far the best and I want to let others know. It is easy to attach/detach, does not move during biking, and holds a charge for about two 10 mile round trip bike rides. It is made of metal and is very durable. I have bought three other lights and they have lasted only a couple months. ... show more

  • The light fell off the mount on the drive home, and now it’s gone forever….
The light has a quick release that lets you detach it from the mounting bracket. I used the light for cyclocross (bicycling on trails and grass and mud….) and it never fell off on the trails. However, I always took it off the bike when I put the bike on the car rack. I wanted to make sure it didnt fall off on the way home. Then one day, after only having it a few weeks, I forgot to take it off before the short drive home (5 or 6 miles ). Sure enough, somewhere along the way it came off the mounting bracket, and now it’s gone forever. I still don’t understand why, because the roads are pretty smooth, and it never came off on the trails. Anyhow, it’s still gone. So make sure you take it off before putting your bike on a bike rack. It sucks to loose such an expensive light. Other than not having it anymore, brightness was pretty good. I didn’t have it long enough to see what the battery life was. And it definitely gets warm on the highest lumen setting. The mount wasn’t very good (photo attached). It wasn’t large enough for my cyclocross bike handlebars. But I found I could make it work by attaching it with a cable tie which you might be able to see in the photo. (Notice that I still have the mounting bracket - that didn’t fall off. The light fell off the quick release.) ... show more

  • Bright Light - Terrible Mount
I'm a bit of a Fenix fan. I have several Fenix headlamps and like them. I like that Fenix is very honest about the Lumen output and how that output lessens when the light is used continuously and that they publish these figures for all their lights. I wanted a bicycle light that has an easily replaceable battery. There are several reasons I think have a replaceable battery is far better than bicycle lights that DON'T have replaceable batteries. Firstly, when out riding, one only has to carry another battery to extend their night-time riding, and carrying an extra battery is far more convenient than carrying an extra light. Also, since the battery is generally the part of the light that fails over time, having the ability to replace that battery can lengthen the duration of time one can use their light before it ultimately fails. The controls on the light make sense. Press and hold the on button and the light turns on to the previously used intensity setting. If you had it on medium output the last time you were using it, when you turn it on again it returns to that medium output. Switching light levels is simple. Press the button when the light is on and the light will cycle through the levels, increasing output until high (turbo) output is selected, and then pressing the button again brings it back down again to the minimum setting. Pressing the button again cycles up through output levels. I think cycling UP in output makes much more sense than cycling down. Using a light while bicycling can be tricky if you're turning it on while riding, so having a simple button press, and then more output if the button is pressed again, makes more sense than having to use obtuse button presses, or needing to use a remote control, and if you're engaging your light because some difficult road conditions suddenly appear, you want output NOW so you can effectively see whatever the situation is. The light easily and securely snaps into it's light holder. The light holder itself is not well thought out. The clamping implementation is secure enough, but it offers no positioning flexibility. If its mounted on your handlebars in a spot that isn't perpendicular to the bicycle's orientation, you can't rotate the light to adjust for that. e.g. if your handlebars are swept back, you can't adjust the light so that it shines straight ahead. Also, the sizes of bars the holder can be used on is an issue. I guess my handlebars are fairly big around, because this mount is just a tad too small, and getting the light holder to be actually attached takes quite a bit of fiddling and fenagling. I had to use screwdrivers as a pry bar just to coax the pieces together enough to let me clamp them together. It's an odd problem for a holder to have and points to a lack of testing and seriousness on the part of the clamp designers. Light output of the light is good. It's a bright light. The quality of the light itself is also top notch. It has a lightweight, yet strong metal body. The light itself is also about as compact as can be made. It looks nice too. ... show more
