I ordered this replacement Tortoiseshell Fender pickguard to put on my 1991 American Standard Fender Stratocaster. This pickguard is made in USA and is genuine Fender, same as they put on their guitars. It came in a clear, thin, somewhat rigid plastic sleeve that was actually kinda cool in itself, different from the plastic pouches I have seen hanging on the wall at Guitar Center stores, and actually useful for storing the old pickguard I took off of my guitar. The pickguard itself is foil-backed and has a genuine-Fender sticker on the foil backing. The tortoiseshell pattern on the one I received is the traditional, brownish look with bits of orangy-red and yellow swirl. The holes aligned on my '91 American Standard Strat pretty well - not absolutely 100% perfect - only a smidge off on a couple. All of the screws went in all the way just fine, and the pickguard sits perfectly flush on the guitar front and looks great. I'm glad I went with genuine Fender for this part, for the quality of the fit, the nice foil backing, and the traditional brown Tortoise Shell look. Beautiful tortoise shell pickguard, exact fit for my 1996 Strat Plus....no modifications necessary. I replaced a white pearloid pickguard because after 26 years i wanted some contrast. It's beautiful and i love it. It's fairly easy to replace if one takes their time and is not afraid to take things apart. Make sure you measure the height of the pickups before you take them off the old pickguard. The whole thing took about an hour. ... show more

The description says "White" but the color is "Parchment" which is exactly what I was looking for. The Parchment color looks like a White pickguard that has aged slightly darker. It is NOT MINT which is a subtle green shade. The pickguard came in the original Fender packaging and appears to be genuine. This is the 11 hole, 3 ply Fender pickguard. Made in Mexico. The only negative I have is that it was shipped in a plastic bag and the sharp point of the pickguard poked through the shipping plastic bag. I was afraid it had become damaged or scratched but luckily it was OK. Amazon PLEASE ship in a cardboard package to avoid damaged returns. ... show more

Short story - Long before it was classic I lent my '69 Strat out and when it came back it had a chrome pick guard and knobs - the originals tossed in the trash. It then remained cased and unplayed until my wife gave me a wedding present of a "restoration", the attention of a great luthier and return to white. Lately I've wanted to restore it to how it should look, faded plastic and all. I learned that pre-CBS Strat's pickguards were celluloid and faded to a very light green tint. While mine is not pre-CBS, I went with that and "aged" knobs. The pup covers are original so they had to match. The results are better than expected. Colors are great, easy to install and holes lined up perfect. Highly recommended. Maybe some day when my ship comes in I'll drop $600 plus on a real original guard (sigh) but for now this is more than adequate. ... show more
