  • The best idea I had so far. Telecasters are truly multi-use instruments.
Color: Black Style: Telecaster
VER-SA-TILE!!! I can go from metal to jazz, to country chicken pickin' without strapping on a different guitar. Or, just underwhelming myself and others. This is genuinely the most I have ever had a single tone knob make THAT much difference. Also the volume control is just BUTTER. I can pull the gain down and tone adjust on the fly. That's something completely different that playing a LP style guitar. The LP is hanging on the wall and the Tele is in the easy to reach guitar stand. I should have bought it sooner. Also, I know this is not an American Fender. But I can't tell that when I play the guitar. It's packed with the same quality that you would expect from Fender. Not to mention on an affordable guitar. (not normal for most manufactures) ... show more

  • Amazing value great playability
Did pretty complete setup check Fret rocker showing zero high or low frets. No buzz out of box. Did adjust string height at saddles. Intonation was already set "perfect" at the resolution of my budget tuner. Adjusted pickup height. Shape and finish of neck are great allowing smooth movement up and down the "perfect" laurel fretboard. Good tone. Only thing I may upgrade is some p-rails but not a priority as they will cost more than the guitar :) ... show more

  • An awesome budget tele for beginner or modder!
Color: Surf Green Style: Telecaster
I received this product from seller Austin Bazaar. This Squier Affinity Telecaster comes in a FSR surf green color which I really like and couldn’t resist. I already owned an Olympic White tele before this one. The things I like about this guitar is the belly cut/contour like a strat has. The split shaft tuners are way better than the old squier tuners. The pickups sound fine to me (although not as good as my Fender strats). The strings do go through the body unlike the previous Squier tele model. Things I didn’t like: the rough frets, the slightly sharp fret ends, some of the nut slots depth were not cut deep enough. I had the tools to fix all these issues but most people may have to take it to a guitar luthier to get that stuff sorted. For the cost of $259.99, its worth it in my opinion. Be sure to give it a setup out of the box as thats what I did and it plays awesome now. Also change the stock strings ASAP, I installed D’Addario XL 10s. ... show more

  • Quality Basic Tele
Color: Surf Green Style: Telecaster
I have heard that the Chinese ones are hit or miss as far as QC goes . For the price , mine was great . Some are made in Indonesia , and some China , you need to look at the product information . If no country is stated it is China , the others say Indonesia . If you buy one, and you want to soup it up , I would get rid of the plastic nut immediately , and have the frets done if you do not have the ability . Change the strings also . The pick ups sound ok . I bought this as a mod platform , it is very good for that , but , be aware that some things just won't fit up . You need to measure before you buy parts to change out . ... show more

  • Great Right Out of the Box
Color: Surf Green Style: Telecaster
Great guitar right out of the box. Love the color and feel. Didn’t need to take it to my local music shop for setup or anything - I’m sure that’s not always the case though. Great guitar for the price.

  • Unexpected Versatility
I bought this guitar simply because of the beautiful finish. My intention was to make a project out of it and upgrade all of the components. After a week with the instrument, I don’t dare change anything other than the pots. I have completely fallen in love with this instrument, and cannot put it down. The neck is slim and super comfortable, with nicely dressed frets and no buzzing. The set up was playable out of the box and only took a few minutes to adjust to my liking. I can’t believe the sound from these pickups. They are bright, crisp, and very articulate. They have a gorgeous chime when played clean, especially in the neck and middle positions, but also really bite in the bridge position, making it an incredibly versatile instrument. This is 100% a keeper and is likely to remain my go-to instrument for quite some time, beating out other more expensive guitars. ... show more

  • Defective product
Color: Black Style: Telecaster
The guitar had a stripped truss nut that I didn't discover until the 37th day of ownership. Of course, this was 7 days past the return window so I am sol. Overall the build was ok (well, except for the stripped nut) and the guitar neck plays well. Action was a little high but was able to lower the saddles a little bit. Neck had just the slightest bow in it. Went to adjust it and found the stripped nut. This is my first Squier guitar and not impressed. Fender can and should do better than this as well as Austin Bazaar who I bought it from. Inspecting for a stripped truss nut is just something I don't check on new guitars. Used ones, yes. So I would like to thank Austin Bazaar in particular for teaching me a valuable lesson: Check even the hidden parts you wouldn't expect to be damaged right out of the box. ... show more

  • Fair entry level guitar with sharp frets
Color: Surf Green Style: Telecaster
In summary you get what you paid for. The color is beautiful, overall looks is great, setup is almost perfect, and the sound is quite decent through a decent amp. My only general observation with Squiers and other entry level guitars is that you have to be ready to polish their frets and this is the case. Its frets are sharp enough to cut you. Just polish its frets even with a nail sanding/buffing tool, set it up, and then you will have a great guitar. ... show more
