As an educator, I have access to a free large laminating machine, but such is not available in the summer and it is frequently "broken," mostly because fellow educators don't follow directions when operating it. Nevertheless, it IS free and it double-side laminates with 1 mil thick lamination which is fine with me since my purpose for lamination is to protect the item from soiling via frequent handling. I sort of wish this machine would laminate below 3 mil, but, nevertheless, I am very satisfied with the finished product--and there are times when more rigidity is desired. I have done whole pages as well as multi-strips together and the lamination came out fine--see the examples in my two pictures below. The price is certainly right, as is the cost of a box of laminating pouches. If you have an 8.5" x 11" product, center it side-to-side and don't push it fully into the pouch there will be a consistent 1/4-inch rigid and clear edging around the product with rounded corners--a nice feature. Definitely no bubbles. Although the instructions say the product will come out warm or hot, I found it cool to the touch. I cut around the strips with both a school cutter and via the old fashioned way of sliding scissors. And, of course, the lamination process highlighted the colors. Update, 1-23-2018: I'm finding that the machine has started to put permanent vertical impressions in the laminated sheets. This may be created by the wheels that pull the product through the machine. I'm also noticing that the top of the pages are coming out wavy horizontally. I don't need perfection, but protection; so, I'm not overly bothered by this, but for someone who wants a near-perfect result, I would say this is not the machine to buy. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I forgot to mention in the video that in addition to the convenient buttons for 3, 4 and 5 mil thickness, there is also a button for cold laminating. Also it has automatic shutoff, which is a nice energy saving and safety feature. I’m very pleased with my purchase.

    • Longevity Review, Almost 4 Years Later...

I purchased this laminator in May of 2015. It is currently February 2019 and it is still working beautifully! Going on 4 years of use without any problems. I will note that it does not get used daily, or even weekly. I plug it in and use it when needed - roughly once, maybe twice a month on average. Also, I have taken great care while using it. It has never been dropped, and (as per the instructions) I always run a clean sheet of paper through it a few times before shutting it off and putting it away (to remove any residue from the rollers.) *** Instructions actually say to use “cleaning sheets” (purchased separately) but I have always used a few clean sheets of printer paper without any problems. Overall it has been a wonderful laminator and has done exactly what it claims, without fail. Definitely worth the investment and I would not hesitate to buy it again. ... show more

Updating to change my rating from a 5 star to a 1 star. I have had this machine since Feb 2017 and 7 months later, it sounds like a helicopter when it used to be quiet and overheats after 6- 10 sheets of laminating. I spent $20 on an Amazon Basics laminator previously, and it lasted longer than this one that I spent nearly $100 on. I do not recommend this product. It still does the following: 1 minute heat up It beeps when it's ready to use It can laminate up to 12 inches across It beeps when the paper is finished laminating There are NO creases or bends in the finished product (my old laminator always had a finished product that was warped from the rollers) It has auto shut off ... show more

Our other Laminator burned up, and this has been a great replacement. Just don't EVER send the laminate through backwards or it will wrap all the way around the rollers and ruin your laminator. I did a lot of research on this and the Fellowes brand is respected and well-reviewed. This model is by far one of the best featured and best reviewed in its price range. For home and moderate (teacher) use, this is a great Laminator and highly recommend it. ... show more

I bought this laminater for my business which is also not just for our use it is also a service I provide for customers. At first I just thought I needed to fiddle with it even though it was easy to use. It came with the name brand Fellows laminating sheets which has the Fellows brand embossed in it so that became a problem as it doesn't look professional. This laminater was awful, even the sheets that seemed to seal quit sealing within days. I turned it up to the 5 mil setting trying to get anything to work. I finally gave up and attempted to return it. NOPE, non returnable! Save every penny of this machine and get something else! ... show more

My last Fellowes Laminator stopped working after four years. It was definitely cheaper but not as fast, start up or laminating, as this one. We homeschool and I literally use my laminator everyday so that our school items last through three children. This laminator is Super fast, ready to laminate in a minute, works with off brand lamination pockets, and runs items through quickly. My only complaint is I wish the device could somehow come apart if there is a jam. Like a printer pops apart. If it was able to do that I would give five stars. I'm not sure why laminators have gone up so dramatically but for what this one does and price I am so far pleased with my purchase. ... show more
