I was looking for a gimbal to handle all my devices: phone, action cam and mirrorless camera. And the device does just that and does it awesomely well. Quick and easy balancing. Intuitive controls, well built, great app. It was all good until I started traveling. I travel a lot and filming is a hobby. I have a backpack of gear. I had to return the gimbal because one of the locking mechanism broke. I didn't treat it rough, I just think that my mirrorless camera was on the heavy side of the payload and it was too much to bear for the gimbal. And I stress on the heaviest side of the payload, yet still under the max payload that is advertised. I took out one star for that and I did return it and did not replace it. For what it is and the price it’s a solid gimbal. Holds my Panasonic LUMIX GX85 and most of my lenses. (Just barely) For phones and smaller mirror less setups I’d say it’s a go, but if you’re pushing anything past a kilogram I’d go for the upgraded AK2000 model.

    • Horrible Gimbal for Smartphones

I really wanted to like this Gimbal, it has come highly recommended by some YouTubers and the DJI OM5 for example that I originally was going to buy I found out is really bad because it severely restricts your range of motion. (You can't just move the gimbal down to the ground like you can with every other Gimbal just about on the market, you have to turn it sideways) I was unable to balance my iPhone 12 Pro Max with this Gimbal. I'm sure it can be done because the mechanism for moving each axis back and forth to balance was such that if I moved it in one direction it was flopping to one side ,and the other direction flopping to the other side. However, this thing was sooo hard to adjust that I was unable to have the ease of adjustment to make the minute corrections to balance it properly.. The other problems with this Gimbal is the way that you unlock the adjustment of each axis's the piece that moves back and forth so you can balance it, is done with a big screw type thing and it is impossible to lock the balance in place because the process of tightening the thumbscrew thing (it's more like this huge cylinder with knurls on it and you turn it one way to lock, one way to unlock) moves the thing and takes it out of balance. The motor locks are also difficult to engage, and I found that this Gimbal has very erratic motion for some reason. I also don't like how the Gimbal is made for right handed users having the jog wheel on the left. I would recommend spending extra money and getting Zhiyun Crane M3 instead. That Gimbal is 100 times better. Balancing was a breeze and literally took no time at all and everything is perfectly balanced you don't even need the motors for the phone to stay in the right place. Of course, the motors provide the stablizing functionality so you want to use them ;) If you have a mirrorless camera or something please ignore this review as I'm not sure if that would be better.. but know the Crane M3 is a much much better choice. It is worth buying just with all these Gimbals buy your own smartphone mount separately because the ones that come with these gimbals are horrible garbage. You want one with a screw that makes it ten times easier to mount your phone. Also, the Crane M3 doesn't come with one unless you pay $80 more for a useless bag and a crappy smartphone mount. But this is a review of this Gimbal so enough about that.. If you want to buy this and try for your DSLR or mirrorless I guess it's fine since you can always return it, but if it is for a large smartphone like iPhone Pro Max or something FORGET IT! It works perfectly, the truth is that I was surprised because I saw some comments that were not favorable, so I took a risk and although I have a slight complaint which is that you have to press hard on the power button so that you do not think that it does not work (it happened to me) the truth for the price it has very good quality, I recommend it, I haven't used it much but when I use it it helps you look professional, definitely a good purchase. The media could not be loaded. Should have listened to that one reviewer who said that this is not for phones. First, the mount that it comes with cannot grip my iPhone 12 pro max with a Rhinoshield bumper. So I took the top rubber lip off. But I could not get it to balance even at the most extreme adjustments. It's also odd that the Y-axis adjustment range has an extreme that there is no clearance for the lock clip and the arm when rotating. So, I tried using a personal mount of mine, which is bigger and uses a big screw adjustment. That screw gave it enough wait on the lens side to balance it. But because of the screw knob of the phone mount, I had pull the mounting plate all the way out to give clearance for when the gimbal rotates. But I still got some jittering after turning the gimbal on. Although I could not perfectly balance the phone to face forward with the original mount, the gimbal does a fine job doing so. But I would experience jittering on and off so it's a bit unpredictable. Second, this gimbal doesn't support a camera with a heavy lens. My Fujifilm XT-3 with an 18-135mm lens was just too front heavy. There are mods to make it work, but that's just too much effort. The range of versatility is limited. ... show more

    • Great gimbal but...

It went crazy during a firmware upgrade. It started spinning, and all the motors got hot. Now, the spinning starts as soon as I turn it on. I am hoping there is a way to do a factory reset, otherwise it goes back. Update: I received the replacement gimbal within 2 days and it works perfectly. I have tried it with my Sony RX100m5A and it works beautifully. The camera control is more reliable when connected via the provided usb cable than via wifi. It is going to take some practice to perfect a dolly zoom! I have also tried it with my A6000. The gimbal handles the A6000 with no problems at all. The A6000 is not as controllable from the gimbal(I have to press the movie button on the camera, and zoom has to be done on the lens), but that is fault of the camera, not the gimbal. ... show more
