Here is the thing. I have three cats. Petite, Potato, and a giant kitten of a Ragdoll who I anticipate will grow more at already 23inches long. I ordered the gray XL cat tree for the purpose of my Ragdoll to actually not overflow off a normal cat tree (example in green and beige of a “normal” cat tree that petite cat fits in perfectly). Also go look out the window at a decent height. This is perfect. Easy to put together by myself. Cats immediately loved it. Ragdoll call full on stretch up top and fits WITH SPACE in the houses. I am so glad I got this. The pad shown under potato cat can go on the top bed but my cats jump and push it off. One thing I dislike: if I didn’t have anything around the tree for my Ragdoll to jump to before trying to get to the top he wouldn’t make it. There is no help or ledge on the XL version. Athletic cats it is no problem for but for your cats that aren’t the best at jumping take that into consideration. ... show more

Seems sturdy for the price. My cat is still unsure about it, I'm not sure if it smells weird to him because he loves his scratchers that are made of similar materials. I got this so he could look at my fish tank (the fish are safe) and it's the perfect height. If I put him on top he will sit on it for hours, but he hasn't figured out yet that he can jump up himself. It might not feel that sturdy to him, as he is a larger cat. He has no problem jumping up onto platforms much higher than this though. ... show more

    • It’s fine and as described BUT —-

BUT—. Unfortunately, my cat is not able to jump up into the top bed part. It’s way to high for her. Even if a cat jumped onto the top of the first part ( which is the part ( box) a little to the left of the top part) you realize the top parts edge is almost equal to the bottom part whereas it appears a cat would actually have to JUMP STRAIGHT UP and THEN Would actually make a quick right turn to be able to land on the top part bed. There not enough room on the top of the top box for a cat to get get to the top part bed. My cat looks up at the top part bed which is almost as high as the bottom molding of the LR window and looks at me like “ meow, help me, I want to get in that top part so I can either lay in it OR even just hop the few inches up and look out the window on the windowsill MEOW, So, I then have to get up, pick her up, and place her in the top bed. She may stay there and sleep or hop up in the windowsill. Usually within a few min she is standing there wondering how she is going to get down sooo I get up and pick her up to put her back on floor. HOWEVER, IF YOU HAVE a younger cat that can jump up to high places you may not have this problem. I know it would take too much time to take the whole thing apart and package it all up again so would have but did not return it. It did take a long time to put it together as the bolts are up inside of the 2 boxes and it’s hard to find the holes in the darkness inside. ... show more

I have a large, older cat and the rooms are a bit small for him. Also he really doesn't go up to the top, it is a bit hard for him to get up there and a relaively long jump down. Suggestions, Lengthen the rooms such that the bottom room roof can work as a platform to leap up to the top. The second floor room could be extended to allow for more space. Overall a great product but not designed for a very large, elderly cat, thats a bit smaller than a Bobcat. I do think this a great product. ... show more

I was worried about putting this together (finding all the places for the bolts, getting the supports in the right place…I’m not always handy. Clear instructions! Did I say clear instructions?
