Hubby installed and did a good job. Directions and extra information was helpful. Company has a well thought out product. I like the remote control for the door. a variety of options for setting the door to automatically open/close. The infarred beam to make sure no chickens are in the way when the door comes down is great, clean occasionally to keep working well. I was really worried about installing this as cutting a hole in my new shed (aka chicken coop) was terrifying as I had those thoughts of "what if I cut it out wrong?". Measure twice, cut once and it fit beautifully. Had an issue with the door not closing until it was discovered the 'eye' was too close to the unit so a simple adjustment took care of that issue. Since I'm not going to use the timer, as the remotes are perfect for my use as I worry the timer might lock out a chicken who isn't quite ready to go inside yet, I wanted to program it accordingly. It was a bit tough to find in the manual how to stop the timer from opening and closing it. It wasn't all that apparent so my suggestion would be to have a separate category for people like me who don't want to utilize the timer. Other than that, easy assembly. Kind of sucks that they don't include the batteries to the remotes as when you think you're all ready to go, you find out that there are no batteries and it's then off to the store before nightfall. This is by far the best door for chicken coops in Montana. During our recent below zero cold spell, Jan 2024, the door failed to open on a minus 25 degree morning. That was fine as I didn't want the chickens out in that cold anyway. Love the runway lights when opening or closing & love that the display is always showing the time of day. Very easy to set up the timer and, except for that one day, the door opens & closes at the proper times. Really like having power options because the electric option works best for us. ... show more

Purchase door to replace our old one. So far we are very pleased. My husband said it was super easy to install. Our old door would freeze up when temps dropped into the negative temps. We have not had that problem with this one. It has worked consisyfor the few months we have had it.

    • Absolute Best Chicken Coop Door I have Researched
The box contains everything you need to install this door and get it functioning in less then 30 min. I have tried other coop doors only to return them due to malfunctioning issues. This door is very durable and secures well to my coop. The programming instructions are very clear and easy to use. I like the fact that this runs on electricity, but does have a battery back up that can be used in emergency. I also like the fact that it has a built in plug to allow you to connect to a battery that connects to a solar panel. Something I will consider in the future. I like the fact that it is made in the USA, I am trying not to purchase China garbage. The cost is comparable to other chicken coops that are offering similar functions, however in all of my research, I only found that the others are all battery operated, and a few are solar powered. I found one door made in France, but again battery operated which I don't want to have to deal with replacing batteries. This product offers a warranty, but once you look at the construction you will see that it should last for a very long time. It comes with a rain shield, but I did not install this as my coop door is under a cover to protect the opening. Great Product and Great Price. ... show more

About 6 months in and the door works great. My favorite feature is when we lose power it keeps all the settings. The only thing I have to reset is the time. I am currently not using a battery backup.

It was very easy to install and working well so far. It does allow some draft though the top of the unit and theough the notches in the door. I knocked off a star because the price went down $20 since I purchased just over a month ago. Disappointed that the price could fluctuate so much in a short time. I originally bought this door for the many options for powering it up. I chose to plug it in because I have power in my coop. I may switch to solar just to avoid power outages. What has really sold me is the remote. The ability to call my chickens to the run and close the door with a button so I can clean, feed, etc. in the coop (and vise versa) is a feature I will not be without, just so convenient. Additionally, the metal door provides predator proof safety. Either use the timer or the light sensor and when the door is closed, they're safe. It's a sturdy door that works great.
