Features

  • OUR BRAND STORY: Monumental volcanoes and lush, verdant steep slopes make Kona, Hawaii a special place on earth. The high elevation, mountain slopes, mineral and nutrient-rich volcanic soil, and cooler temperatures create perfect conditions for coffee. Its where Blue Horse 100% Kona Coffee was born. It's where we grow the world's best and most famous Kona coffee - right here in the USA.
  • 100% HAWAII KONA (NOT A BLEND!): Kona Estate Quality - Made of finest premium Kona coffee beans, grown in Hawaii, USA. The beans we use for our compatible K-cups are the same we use for our whole bean packages (not broken and inferior beans that many other brands grind up and hide in their capsules).
  • FARM-FRESH, SUSTAINABLE: Our coffee is shade grown, handpicked, sun dried, and rainwater washed (means more work for us but more flavor for you).
  • CLASSIC ROAST: This slightly darker medium roast profile is our most popular classic roast and the most common roast level within the Kona Coffee Belt. Best in a French Press, Pour-Over, or Drip Coffee maker.
  • DELICIOUS TASTE: Blue Horse 100% Kona coffee beans have complex fragrant, floral notes with a lingering sweetness. These premium pure Kona beans are medium brown in appearance with spots of aromatic oils. Aromatic, nut-like scents created in the island's rain forest will fill your senses and seep into your veins. Enjoy hints of almonds and tropical vanilla with a light, velvety body.
  • FRESH & FLAVORFUL: The key to great coffee is to enjoy it when its freshly roasted. Sealed shut, our premium vacuum sealed, resealable zip-locked bag keeps coffee fresher for longer at peak aroma. (Please squeeze the remaining air out each time you open the bag, so that oxygen doesnt reduce the coffees freshness!)
  • 100% MADE IN THE USA: Our Kona coffee is 100% grown, handpicked, processed, and roasted in the USA.
  • HIGHEST QUALITY: Our farming and processing follows strict US Department of Agriculture and Hawaiian Government legal quality standards, and our state-of-the-art roasting facilities.
  • TRY A CUP: Blue Horse 100% Kona Coffee comes highly rated by thousands of satisfied and loyal customers who have loved our delicious, US-made coffee since 2005. We will let you decide for yourself, and hope you will love our coffee as well. Mahalo!

  • A Luxurious Taste of Hawaii's Coffee Heritage
Color: 16 oz Dark Roast, Whole Beans
Blue Horse 100% Kona Coffee, in its Dark Roast Arabica Whole Bean form, is not just a bag of coffee; it's a premium experience in every cup. Receiving a flawless 5-star rating, this coffee stands as a testament to the rich, volcanic soil of Hawaii's Kona region. This 1 lb or 16 oz bag of Blue Horse Kona Coffee offers a luxurious and authentic taste of one of the world's most coveted coffee-growing areas. The flavor profile of this 100% Kona coffee is exceptional and distinctive. The dark roast brings out a deep, rich flavor with hints of nutty and chocolaty undertones, yet it retains a smoothness and lack of bitterness that is characteristic of high-quality Kona coffee. Every sip transports you to the lush landscapes of Hawaii, offering a coffee experience that is both indulgent and invigorating. One of the standout features of Blue Horse Kona Coffee is its purity. Being 100% Kona means this coffee is made exclusively from Arabica beans grown in the Kona region, known for its unique climate and volcanic soil. This results in a coffee bean with a distinct flavor that cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world. The whole bean format of the coffee ensures freshness and flavor preservation. Grinding the beans just before brewing releases their full aroma and flavor potential, providing a fresher and more enriching experience than pre-ground coffee. It's an ideal choice for coffee connoisseurs who appreciate the ritual and art of brewing a perfect cup. Blue Horse's commitment to quality is evident in every aspect of this coffee. From the careful selection of beans to the meticulous roasting process, every step is taken to ensure a premium product. This dedication to quality is not just about taste; it's about honoring the tradition and craft of Kona coffee farming. TL;DR: Blue Horse 100% Kona Coffee is a luxurious and authentic representation of Hawaii's coffee legacy. Its rich flavor, smoothness, and 100% Kona origin make it a standout choice for coffee lovers. Each cup offers a taste of the unique and cherished Kona coffee experience, making it more than just a beverage, but a celebration of Hawaiian coffee culture. ... show more

  • Not the top tier of 100% Konas
Color: 16 oz Dark Roast, Whole Beans
Decent Kona for avg drinker. I ordered some as a backup for when I run out of my regular Kona (it takes a long time to ship from Kona, HI if you’re ordering from a one estate Top Tier Graded Kona) I’m a very particular Kona drinker. It’s the only kind I have been drinking since the first time I tried it on the island decades ago. I’m not necessarily a coffee aficionado-EXCEPT when it comes to 100% Kona. I ordered a medium roast & rec’d the dark-not a big deal since it was purely for backup. It didn’t go in the trash so it was decent enough, fresh enough, but beans were completely over roasted. Borderline burned. Won’t be ordering again-even for backup (but glad I had it on hand to grind to tide me over until the good stuff arrived) A quick primer for those who want to learn about Konas: There’s only two estates I’m aware of that have the coveted “Extra Fancy” distinction given by the state’s agricultural Dept who gives the ratings by actually scrutinizing individual beans. Could be a very few more I’m not aware of that are newer but for a couple of decades, there were actually only two. It’s important to understand the grading system bc “extra fancy” & “fancy “ are not subjective adjectives, they are part of a very long tradition of grading done by the state of Hawaii. Firstly, MANY ppl wrongly think they have tried Kona coffee. The reasoning being, that most people are drinking Kona BLENDS. In the US, as long as there is ONE KONA BEAN in the bag, it’s legal to call it a Kona blend. Others that market it as Kona coffee only are required to have 10% Kona beans mixed with other inferior cheapo beans (usually arabica from other countries who sell cheap beans. There are some fine blends out there, but you’re not tasting the uniqueness of a true Kona. Secondly, to have the distinction of 100% Kona, it must be grown in the small Kona region of the big island, where the climate is different from the tourist areas ie beaches. Even still, there’s different elevations that change the taste of the beans. It’s the volcanic area & therefore different estates have different elevations. It doesn’t stop there, many companies buy 100% Kona beans from different estates in bulk to get in on the $ that is rightfully demanded for these unique beans-but these are usually inferior beans and mixing from multiple estates inevitably changes the taste further. Additionally, some bigger estates have switched to computers to sort & roast their beans. This results in some inferior beans getting through the cracks during sorting & over roasting during that process. With the limited supply and the increased demand over time, it pays to do your homework. Single estate 100% Kona beans that are completely processed from picking the cherries, to sorting, roasting, packaging and shipping all done by humans are going to have the most consistent taste and quality. It’s a generations old practice and usually small family owned estates who do everything themselves are the ones that get the highest ratings from the agricultural Dept from the state of Hawaii. “Award winning” is not the same thing as the actual grading system. Grading system: Type I coffees (means they came from berries that had 2 half beans per cherry/fruit) Extra Fancy- highest grade. Largest, best quality beans & super expensive. (2021-expect to spend $75-200/lb) Fancy- high grade Kona #1- mid-grade, commonly used in restaurants Prime/Estate grade- lowest grade, but still better than most coffees! Type II beans/coffees (means they came from one whole bean per cherry/fruit and are the rarest of the rare) Peaberry prime is the lowest grade of type I beans; Peaberry #1 is the highest quality/grade of the type II grades. (Note: Peaberry is the MOST EXPENSIVE, & it is only a darker roast, therefore it also has a bit more bitterness & is not for everyone) There are no other grades. Any other claim is bunk. It’s a standardized grading system that has been around forever. Buyer beware. Plenty of good blends out there. I’m a believer there’s a Kona for everyone & at different price points. However, it’s a booming business and many are trying to get in on it even though the real stuff is most likely a family owned estate that has been passed down for generations. None of it is cheap. If you’re going to splurge on a real Kona, make sure ur money is getting what you pay for. The more you know 💫 Enjoy! ... show more

  • Smoothness & Taste
Color: 16 oz Medium Roast, Whole Beans
The coffee arrived less than a day after ordering. We got the medium roast. We really liked the taste and the overall smoothness of this brand. This made a wonderful batch in the French press. We will definitely try the dark roast next. The best we've ever purchased from Amazon.
