Box arrived travel worn but the excellent packaging keep everything inside pristine. Assembly was fairly simple. Like the instructions say, a second person makes it even easier. Note that the Model:8247-5 assembly instructions has the seat plate (step 4) attached before the arms (step 5) but in that order one level arm on the seat plate blocks access to one of the arm bolt holes. Do step 5 before step 4 and same some time and hassle. At 6' 3", 165#, and a 35" inseam this chair allows me to sit with my feet flat and my legs feel so much better than they did in my previous chair that was maybe 2" lower. And, don't laugh, the "back pillow" that comes unannounced with it I'm using as a very comfortable seat cushion - geometry-wise it fits perfect on the seat. Fortuitously, the chair arms sit 1/4" below my glass desk top. The armrests have so many positions - I had no idea armrests could be so useful and enhance the comfort of the chair. Had to break my lifelong habit of using them to rotate the chair because these armrests would rotate, not the chair. But the best thing about this chair is the fantasylab customer service!! One of the arms had a missing (broke) latch for the articulating armrest. They replied to my email the next business day. After confirming my order number they apologized for the inconvenience and immediately sent a replacement arm which arrived a week later. ... show more

Bought a secret lab chair and returned it due to its horrible thin seat cushion... Was like sitting on concrete. I was hesitant to buy the Fantasy Lab but really glad I did. The seat is thick and comfy. The leather is soft and professional looking. The adjustability is off the charts... And it's a very high Qual chair. You can tell it's going to last. The extra removable cushion was a major bonus and I use it on the seat for even more padding. For reference in a 6'2" 255 lbs man with a muscular build. Thanks Fantasy Labs : you have a new fan. I saved almost $400 going with Fantasy Labs over Secret Lab and ultimately got a superior chair all around. ... show more

    • Good comfort, arm rests leave a lot to be desired

The chair itself is quite comfortable, and is quite large. Assembly wasn't difficult, and overall the first couple weeks were lovely. Fast forward to now, and I noticed two issues (to me) about the arm rests, being that one, they are not padded, and would recommend a third party attachable piece to increase comfort for long periods of time resting your elbow or arm on it. My elbow has been sore due to this, and is worth mentioning. Another is the locking mechanism to the armrest, as the arm rests can be locked in a few positions at varying angles, I often just leave mine default, or straight out, however I have noticed a SIGNIFICANT amount of play in my left arm rest at this setting. There is an uncomfortable amount of play, and after checking out issue of it, there is a metal piece inside that has grooves for the armrest to lock into, however my standard setting seems to be damaged, and results in it shaking and jiggling throughout random movements in the chair. Apart from the arm rest, honestly, it's a great chair, really comfortable, just wish more attention had been paid to the arm rests for long term usage, which is why this is a solid 3/5 rather than a 4-4.5 for me. ... show more

I weigh 300+lbs and im loving this chair. The 3D armrest is a little flimsy. Im 5’8 and if ur not tall the height on the lowest setting is a little high. I contacted Fantasylab and they did everything to solve my problem and sent another armrest. Very satisfied and loving how solid this chair feels. I've been looking for a long lasting sturdy chair, and this is not it. One of the wheels on the chair snapped the first day. The metal bent which makes it impossible to slide back in. It was also difficult to put together as the bolt holes were poorly drilled and dont match up. The base seat and backing are made of hard wood which is fine.
