The installation of the 4x16GB chips on a 27inch imac 2019 was absolutely simple. The misgivings I had were answered promptly by the company's tech support. This was not the cheapest memory but it was apple original equipment. The reason I chose apple original equipment was a result of reading difficulties buyers had with non-apple , third party, chips. the installation was 5 - 10 minutes and the chips were recognized on restarting, booting, the imac I am delighted, having expected a hassle. This memory works perfectly in a late 2018 Mac Mini, including mine with a build date of August 2020 (yes, the 2020 model is still technically a late 2018). I used the OWC installation video (from their site) and while the installation is not “easy”, it’s still pretty straight forward. With respect to the performance of the memory, there was a notable improvement on Nova Bench and in every real-world measure. I upgraded from the base 8 GB. The brand new system benchmark with the OEM (Micron) memory was 1780, which was slightly above average. It was 1880 with this (Samsung based) memory. The memory benchmark went from 260 to 355. Not groundbreaking, but a notable improvement. The Mini bogs down when multitasking with 8GB. It doesn’t with anything 32GB or over. I went with the 64 GB in hopes I can apportion a larger chunk of shared memory with the Intel 630 video card - which is the low point of the Mini. My system has the i7, 1TB main drive, and the faster network card. You’ll need the following tools: anti-static/ESD work surface, I recommend anti-stat gloves, a small plastic spudger (for the bottom cover and 2 motherboard connectors), a T-6H anti-tamper/security Torx bit or screwdriver for the bottom panel (6 screws), a T-6 Torx bit for the cooling fan (the T-6H works for these screws), a T-10 Torx for the two motherboard screws, and a T-5 for 4 screws securing the metal cover over the memory. I purchased an anti-stat/ESD mat, anti-stat gloves and a precision multi-bit screwdriver set from Amazon. The Royace 119 piece kit is reasonably priced on Amazon, and has all the bits you need for this task... and pretty much anything else phone and computer related. If you already have a precision bit kit, but it doesn’t have the T-6H bit (most basic kits only go down to T-8H), you can buy (from Amazon) a small 16-bit kit by Arumin that covers T-5H to T-50H Torx sizes. Those are standard bits, and will not fit in the tight space on the side of the cooling fan - that task needs a precision/mini T-6 Torx bit. I hope the info helps. ... show more

I bought my Mac mini without upgrading the Ram a year ago, it would have been an extra $600 to go from 8gb up to 32gb. After a while of using the mini, I decided I'd look into opening up my mini and upgrading the RAM. I'd heard it was an involved process, and it was, but still very easy to accomplish. I'll admit I was very nervous to open up my mini, I'm not strongly knowledgeable with the insides of computers. However, if I can install this RAM in my Mac mini, anyone can install this RAM. I have yet to try any hardcore multitasking with this RAM yet, but from my normal use I can easily tell the difference in my resource management. So far, the RAM has performed perfectly. I'm so excited to get my RAM upgrade at a fraction of the cost that Apple wanted to charge me when I was making my purchase. If your not afraid to test yourself to and open up your Mac, then spending the money on this RAM is definitely worth the time and cost to do so. Also, you get to learn more about your computer while you are in there, and clean some of the dust too!!! Decided to upgrade my IMac memory myself and save some money. Went for the 2 sticks of 32gb so I can still add more later if needed. After the install my iMac is blazing fast. Everything comes up instantly and everything runs super smooth. Definitely recommend upgrading your ram if possible.
