This small amplifier sounds great. I've only had this amp about a week and so far so good. I'm running out of my iMac into the 1/8 AUX input jack on the front of this amp and using heavy gauge speaker cable into a pair of speakers, each w/ a 6.5 inch midrange and 3 inch tweeter, housed in 45 year old heavy, solid wood cabinets. The bass and treble controls on this ST-838 are really quite responsive, although I am also using the EQ in my iTunes player to dial things in a little more, especially when listening to music. I have a background as a sound engineer and musician and I am fairly hard to please and so far I'm pretty happy, particularly considering the price. And now ~ the test of time. For the price? man, you can't ask for more, this little one does the job, assuming you have the needed speakers and tweeters For me, It powered the 10-inch SUB very well, the quality and the features are surprisingly good, and very nice sound. You CAN'T expect it to drive a 500 watts SUB or so, this is not a powerhouse amp, it is just good for the home-based SUB ... show more

I purchased this amp to upgrade the audio in my Ninja Turtles arcade cabinet. If you are looking for just loud audio this will kinda do that. What this amp does NOT do is provide clean audio. I have 2 kenwood 4inch 2way speakers and an 8 inch subwoofer hooked up. The high a super screechy. The lows a practically non existent. The subwoofer output is nothing more that a mono channel. No crossover is applied to the sub. The bass and treble adjustment knobs just add noise to the sound. The unit do not achieve the advertised wattage per channel. Spend some extra money and get a good amp. Avoid this cheap junk. I will be retuning that asap! ... show more

    • Resurrected a lame Logitech z533 setup. Of course, time will tell...

I have a Logitech z533 setup at my pc desk which apparently blew a cap that has disabled the subwoofer. Naturally this happened just outside the product's 1 year warranty. Most of the power delivery electronics are inside the subwoofer, out of reasonable reach without destroying the subwoofer case (which is glued together MDF.) Even if I could get to the electronics, I don't necessarily have the know-how to go through and suss out and replace the capacitor. That doesn't mean I'm going to just go out and drop another $150 on another z533 setup. Especially when I consider this is the third and final Logitech speaker setup to have a lame electronics-based failure that I've had to clean up after. (I also still have an old z506 setup with a faulty power switch I had to fix myself...) I knew the speakers themselves were still good, so I decided to give this amp a try as it has very similar output properties to the original amp. Cut and extend the wires from the sub speaker, plug them into the new amp. Cut the phono plugs off the left and right channel speakers, stripped those wires back a bit, and plugged them into the spring clip terminals on the Facmogu. Plugged in my laptop for a sound source, and I was done. If the speakers sound different than they did with the Logitech electronics onboard, I honestly cannot tell. Your mileage may vary. Yes, I've lost use of the little control puck thing, but that thing kinda sucked anyway. I cut it off. The question is: will this amp last? If it doesn't, I will edit this review to reflect that. ... show more

La calidad del sonido es buena hasta que le subes todo el volumen. Empieza a escucharse un tanto sucio pero debe ser por la fuente que no da para más. Me gusta que tiene los controles individuales de bass, treble y subwoofer. La instalación es muy sencilla. No tiene puerto USB ni para microSD y tampoco trae bluetooth.
