These cups are great, and I can’t paint without it! None of the other water cups/buckets I’ve ever bought have the wavy edge this one has. I can let my brushes sit horizontally, which is at least helpful in preventing potential water and paint damage to the brush. The silicone material and wavy edge also help make sure the brushes don’t roll away. I absolutely love how convenient these are to travel with as well. For those unaware, good brush care means trying to keep water/pigment out of the ferrule and soaking into wooden handles. This is really difficult when the only storage option are holes along the side of the water cup, therefore the only way to store a wet brush is to place it with the handle in the hole, allowing water/pigment to drain into the ferrule and wood handle. Over time, this would loosen the glue and cause the wood to expand/contract as it absorbs water and dries, ruining the brush faster. Ideally, brushes should be dried hanging by the handle with the bristles pointed down, allowing the water to drain away from the ferrule and wood handle. ... show more

The design of this cup is great. You don’t have to leave brushes soaking in the water. The ridges securely hold the brush in place so bristles can dry and not be damaged. Love that it easily collapses so it is great for travel. Definitely recommend. See soda can for size reference.

Whoever came up with this is deserves a raise and a promotion because making this well priced purchase finally removed me from the shackles of using old bowls as water holders for when I paint. The size is perfect, the little indents let you keep your paint brushed on the cup, and it’s so aesthetically pleasing. Would highly recommend! ... show more

There may be many of these collapsable cups out there, though this one is done in good quality and style. The brim is shaped so you can rest your brushes. What would be ideal is that the bottom of the cup had texture to help rinse the brushes, though you can buy separately some of those sillicone addons with bristles that help scrub any excess pigment.     • The Most Practical Watercup Ever Designed

This is a great little watercup. I use it both at home and on the scene anywhere or anyplace. It collapses easily for storage and for taking along with me in my art "to go bag" for when I get that uncontrollable urge to do some artwork whenever I'm out and about. The outer shell is made of silicone so there's no worry about water leaking through the sides. The scalloped lip is perfect for holding brushes between uses while you're working. I usually use more than one brush while working so it's good to have a place to store the other brush. Also perfect for holding brushes when taking a break. I have some pretty pricey Kolinsky Sable and Squirrel Quill watercolor brushes so I don't want to ruin them by standing them in water so the bristles bend. It's not practical to put soaking wet brushes in my brush holder and I don't want to just lay them on my drawing table. So the scalloped lip was a big selling point for me. Other artist water containers that fold up just aren't as practical as this one is. Faber-Castell considered everything an artist would want in a watercup when they designed it.
