Flip up dock ladder is made of welded aluminum for a 300 lbs. capacity. Robust 21" width for comfort. The flip-up design offers the convenience of a permanently mounted ladder that can be easily removed from the water. Quick, simple assembly using common hand tools. Strong Ladder, Easy to Assemble and Used SAE Hardware vs Metric as There is None in My Area
Size: 5 Step
I am sure this ladder will provide long service given the welded aluminum is robust. I live in an area where Metric hardware (M8-6 nuts, bolts, fiber nuts) virtually impossible to find. You can order 2 to 4 bolts and nuts online from any source I know. Thus being an engineer I just used SAE alternative hardware in stainless steel and or zink coated. For M8 try 5/16"X 3" works fine for the attachment of the hand rail to mounting plate (Extrememax's terminology reference their installation instructions.) For M6 use 1/4 20 X 2 1/2" for attachment of the hand rail to the step section. I was able to find countersunk heads which fit flush. You will have access threads on both the 5/16" and 1/4 20 after securing your fiber nuts. Leave them alone or Dremel them flush with a cut off wheel. I am leaving mine as is for the moment to see if I need to re-tighten. I plan to add another lock up pin to the other side of the hand rail as I get some very strong winds where I live. This is a quality piece and I was aware from reading the write ups that no hardware is provided. This is a shame as many of us don't have access to a true hardware store for metric. Forget ACE, Lowe's HD they do not carry it. I used HD to obtain SAE equivalents. I put the cross reference in this post to hopefully aid someone planning to install this. It is very simple to install and I hope the hardware reference with lengths helps someone not have to figure this out themselves. I didn't include hardware suggestions regarding attaching the mount to the dock or where you plan to use it as there is too much variability. I used a large stainless steel lag bolt with washer into my front 2X6 that my synthetic deck boards are attached and 1/4 20 with washers and fiber nut for rear attachment to my synthetic decking. ... show more

Flip-up Dock Ladder
Size: 4 Step
I love this ladder! It's been on our dock for several years and is as good as new. It's easy to pull up & lock into place when we're done using it to keep it cleaner for the next time!

Customer service is fantastic
Size: 5 Step
We have a house on the coast and wanted to replace an existing 3 step Extreme Max flip up dock ladder with a 5 step version. We were very happy with the 3 step version and many of our neighbors have the 4 or 5 step versions which we have climbed and which are sturdy, flip up smoothly, and are quite resilient to salt water with proper care. When the product arrived, we noticed one of the railings was slightly rotated from an improper weld or bolt, and need to be mounted askew on top of the dock for the steps to be parallel to the side of the dock. I emailed Extreme Max customer service, and they responded within the hour and offered to visually inspect a replacement and send it immediately. Our correspondence was very cordial and to the point, and a replacement was sent within 3 hours of my initial contact. I highly recommend Extreme Max ladders but am also incredibly impressed with their customer service which is so rare these days. ... show more

Works great. But a little rough on the dock.
Size: 4 Step
The Extreme Max Heavy Duty Flip-Up Dock Ladder is a solid, well-built ladder that’s perfect for my dock. The round tube frame feels sturdy, and the steps are comfortable to use, even for bare feet. Installation was straightforward, and the flip-up feature makes it easy to keep out of the water when not in use. My only minor complaint is that it could use a bit more padding or coating to prevent scratches on the dock. Overall, it’s a durable and reliable ladder that gets the job done. Definitely worth considering for any dock setup. ... show more

Surprising value
Size: 5 Step
Heavy duty aluminum construction with beefy welds. Easy to assemble. Saw some complaints about mounting hardware not being included, but it's pretty hard to predict all the possible mounting scenarios and provide hardware for each. That's nuts. How do they know if you're mounting it on 3/4", 5/4", 1-1/2" decking; concrete; composite decking; etc. All require different fasteners, back plates, anchors, and other pieces. So if you want a really sturdy ladder at a good price, and you can install it to withstand your 350 pound cousin climbing out of the water, buy this one. If not, call a contractor and don't complain about the ladder folks. I think they did a surprisingly good job. ... show more

Love this ladder... just wish we would have replace our old one sooner!
Size: 4 Step
We replaced our old ladder that was similar in style (to lift out of water when not in use) but it was painted (which deteriorated quickly)...and it filled with water, so when it was down, it was very difficult for children to lift out when they were finished swimming. This was easy to install. Just be sure to buy the hardware for that because it is not included. (But plainly written on the box) It is excellent quality. Just wish we would have replaced our old ladder sooner! ... show more
