  • Turned out to be a great purchase. So convenient!
Style: x
We are experienced Kayakers who have other hard sit on top and sit in kayaks. This was our first inflatable. For the price of admission, ours turned out to be a great purchase. We use it on vacation, so that we don’t have to carry our expensive kayaks on our vehicle for hundreds or thousands of miles, and worry about them getting stolen when we camp. We have used our Intex Explorer on the ocean inlet canals in Murrel’s Inlet, SC and it works great for that. Smooth water with some current. Our limit is about 1 1/2 to 2 hours before we feel cramped and need to take a break by getting out of the yak. I am 6’ and wife is 5’ 8”. This kayak is a little short for two people our sizes, but anything significantly longer is a lot more money so we make due. The Explorer K2 tracks well using the included skeg and when good paddling technique is used. When we paddle hard and fast in unison, it tracks very straight and is speedy enough. When letting off and ceasing all paddling, it will drift and the rear will start to swing out some. Not a big deal. The materials used seem durable enough for the price point. The only thing we really would like changed would be the inflation valves on the floor and on the front and rear bow and stern covers leave a little to be desired. They are the cheap little clear flip out valves like are used on inflatable pool toys. The other valves to inflate the sides the are the nice kind of valves that don’t let air escape when you pull the air pump out after inflating. Again, for the price point we figure they have to cut corners somewhere, and these are the areas they did. But all in all this is an amazing value for the money. We are done with set up and inflation using the included pump within 10-12 minutes, and deflation is even quicker. If we find we start using the Intex more and more, we may upgrade at some point to a longer (like 12-13 ft) inflatable kayak. If Intex made one, we’d buy it today. So if you want the convenience of a kayak you can take with you anywhere (comes with it’s own bag), and you want in for low cost, the Explorer K2 is a good way to go! • will not stand behind product

I bought the Explorer K2 and enjoyed many hours of kayaking in the lake and canal where I live in South Florida until a few weeks ago when the seam on the pontoon split for about a half inch. I followed the instructions, using the supplied round patch with the proper adhesive. I did it a second time then with other sealers and with sealing tapes. I clamped it, and criss crossed it. After 5 attempts I gave up and then realized the seam was splitting even further. I called Intex customer service and was told there is nothing they will do because it was past 90 days. REally? The seam split. I followed directions. The seam split more. I cannot fix it and the boat is now useless and they say sorry it is past 90 days. They could not even offer suggestions on how to repair it. In fact, the rep said I could not fix the seam. So now I am out my $85, I have no kayak and this huge supplier says too bad!!! Well too bad Intex, I guess you lost not only my business but you also lost all of the recommendations to my social community. Unless of course you wish to rectify this...in which case write me at [email protected] ... show more

  • Does not include a mountain stream
Style: x
I opened this up and inflated it in my living room, but there wasn't a stream or a river or anything in the box. I guess I have to add my own. I tried to test it out in the bathtub, but the bath isn't big enough. I did accidentally pull my shower curtain down off the rail when I tripped over an oar. I hit my head on the side of the kayak instead of the tub, so that was good. Anyway, then I couldn't get out of the tub because my legs were tangled in the shower curtain and the kayak was on top of me. My dog thought it was funny and jumped on top and started licking my face. I blindly grabbed for something, and accidentally turned on the shower. Anyway, after I got the bathroom aired out, I managed to pull the kayak out into the back yard and pretended my lawn was a level 4 white waters thing. It helped that the sprinklers activated in the middle of it all. The dog jumped on top of me again. Finally, i strapped the thing to the top of my car and drove up to the nearest mountain stream. I had forgotten that the kayak was both inflatable *and* deflatable. The wind kept trying to pull the kayak up off the car, but I'd tied it tight enough, it just resulted in less traction on my steering. Which is a bad thing on mountain roads. The car went off the side and rolled over and over, landing on its top in, ironically, a mountain stream. So, with the car upside down on top of the kayak, me in the car, and the whole mess in the stream, we floated all the way back down through Golden, past the Coors factory, and out the east side of Denver. My car was totaled. But the kayak was awesome. I recommend it. Just, make sure you have a mountain stream handy, and deflate it before you tie it to the top of your car. ... show more

  • So much fun!
Style: x
I love this kayak! You can go swimming in the middle of the lake. Re-entering is easy and it won't flip. When you remove both seats 2 people can comfortably sit on inflated floor facing each other and enjoy lazy afternoon on the water. You can also buy kayak anchor and enjoy sunshine without a drift. ... show more
