  • Expedition Scout Wristwatch
Color: Green Beige
This is an old style analog watch. Millennials may struggle telling the time. The watch is WR to 30m. The band is made of a comfortable nylon and fastens with a buckle. I had no problem getting a comfortable fit. The face is cream colored and has large numbers to help you see the time. The watch has a date window and the watch I tested changed at the appropriate time. Overall, it’s a nice wind-up analog watch. If you need a basic watch at a good price then this watch is for you. ... show more

  • Nice Watch but Ad is Full of Contradictions
Color: Green Beige
Guess I’m a rarity these days. I wear a watch to tell time and maybe the date. Then again, I use my phone to make calls and not watch TV, chat or send text messages. I also don’t need a watch that tells my heart rate, how much I’ve walked in a day or any such nonsense. And that's exactly what this watch does. With a twist, sort of. This is a nearly identical knock-off of the Timex Expedition Scout version, minus the Indiglo feature. Look it up if you think I’m exaggerating. Come to think of it, I should know what I’m talking about, I own the nearly identical Timex version of this watch. Even the strap is similar and, for those who are wondering, even the case diameter, at 40mm is the same. However, the coloring on the Timex is matte, this is shiny. Things that make you go “hmmm…”. Unfortunately, the ad is full of contradictions. The first one is in the main title which states, “...wind up..” while later stating, “...quartz wristwatch…” later in the same sentence. Then comes the statement that it’s “..waterproof..” when, in fact, it’s water resistant. There is a huge difference and this watch is not waterproof. Just to highlight that point, this watch claims a water resistance rating of 98 feet while also stating, “Good for casual outdoor and daily use, not for diving, snorkeling, bathing or swimming. Ideal for indoor and outdoor activities.” Hmmm, number 2. Guess handwashing and maybe a light drizzle outside is okay (?). And how about this one? “The quartz movement ensures accurate timekeeping, while the self-winding mechanism eliminates the need for frequent battery replacements.” There is no winding mechanism in a quartz watch, it’s all electronic. Either that or somebody created a new genre in cheap watches. However, in the overall scheme of things this is a nice looking, basic watch. I do like that the strap partially covers the back plate to keep sweat off the metal part. It seems to keep time and the date function is easy enough to set, just make sure you know AM from PM when setting that function (if you don’t the date will change at roughly 2pm instead of am). This model does have a decent construction since it appears the watch, except for the backplate, is made from brass. Earning extra points, the date function has a satisfying click when setting. While on extra points, cheap watches often require you to play “spin the dial” to change the date. This one has two pull-out functions on the crown. Pull it to the first stop for the date, second to change the time. Nice. The real test is in the pricing. At roughly $10 this is about $30 to $40 less than the comparable Timex version, although the latter does have the Indiglo feature. I’m giving this just 4 stars for the ad contradictions, otherwise this is a nice watch where it’ll probably cost you more to change the battery in the future than it did to initially buy it. ... show more

  • Nice, traditional watch. Can’t beat the price!
Color: Green Beige
Like a lot of wrench-benders, I tend to wear the same watch whether I’m changing the oil or going to church. My wife thinks that since I am retired, maybe I should try something new. So, I ordered this on a Vine promotion to make an effort. Honestly, this is probably a better deal than the Casio watches all the fellas from my unit bought on TDY in Japan back in the early 80’s. The $20 we spent back then is probably equivalent to $100 today, so at ten bucks this is a steal. The analog dial is easy to read, I love the 24-Hr numbers on the inner row, and the nylon band is sturdy and comfortable. It even has a date window, which has to be adjusted on months with less than 31 days, but that is easy enough to do (you just turn the knob counter-clockwise). So far, it keeps perfect time. For guys like me who just want to know what time it is, and don’t care to have our lifestyles and activity levels constantly analyzed, it’s hard to get any better than this! And yes, it’s good enough to wear to church. ... show more

  • Nice looking watch. Peculiar movement.
Color: Green Beige
Watch received matched pictured watch. The band on this watch is higher quality than what I was expecting. The color scheme of the whole unit is a classic field watch style, and it looks good. Goes well with khakis or jeans and boots. I don't believe this watch is 40mm, when measured the same way other watches do it. I've got several watches that are 40mm and they are clearly larger than this watch. I've noticed something odd about the timekeeping on this watch: The relationship between the hour hand and the minute hand is "off". What I mean by that is that, for example, if the time were 4:30, with the minute hand at the 6 o'clock position, the hour hand will be almost touching the 5 rather than being halfway between the 4 and 5. I'm not sure what it is, but it seems like the movement on this watch isn't designed to go with this dial. Maybe it's supposed to go with a 24 hour dial? I don't know, but it makes it a little bit difficult to read at times. Attractive watch, but it's a little bit off for me. ... show more

  • Nice cheapie watch with a good movement
Color: Green Beige
For the price point, this watch isn't too bad. It's inspired by the Casio Scout and Weekender watch lines, and you can kind of see that in the styling of the dial and the watch hands. The movement is fairly smooth, and everything is pretty readable. I like the Nato strap, and it's easy to change it out and replace with different colors. I had a little trouble getting the date updated. The dial has a tendency to slip back and not allow you to turn the date numbers, so you have to constantly push it in and pull it back out to get it just right. And the size of the case is a little small for my giant wrists. But otherwise, like I said, this is a great watch to have if you like the Weekender line, but don't have the budget. ... show more
