IMO, these perform well, hold their loft, and remain comfortable. Can't speak to the cooling part. I don't notice that. Washing images suggest disaster, so maybe this will be helpful—or not. I have a large capacity front loading GE washer and matching dryer. I strongly suggest that if you have a king-sized mattress pad with any loft that you go to a laundromat where super large capacity washers and dryers are available to wash this pad. (For my queen-sized pad of this kind, I'd likely do the same just to simplfy the washday.) To dry, I schedule the washing for early in the day and put the pad over a door or bar stools and shift it around through the day. May turn on a ceiling fan. And then put it in the dryer on low for a short time at the end of the day. The effectiveness of this process diminishes with the increasing size of the mattress pad. For twin, full—ok, I would say. Even queen if you get a good spin. King—not so much. I've had the king scorch a bit once in the home dryer. No real damage, but aaaargh. Better to go to the laundromat where the machines will give you a better washing and a safer drying. . ... show more

Well I will start by saying I have a lot of herniated discs, degenerative back disease, arthritis and princess in the pea syndrome (since I was a little girl my bed needs to be soft). So I just received what they called a pillow top mattress with very little pillow top, so I started looking online the memory foam mattress toppers all had the same reviews great for a short time but then your impression stays in the pad not to mention the off gassing and price. Then I came upon this mattress topper The reviews were all great and I liked that it was a fitted topper so it doesn't slide all over. I know someone said that the material used on the fitted part wasn't good but I liked it because it fits like gauze and stays put. I received it on wed. ordered it on sat. arrived when they said it would. I got the box so excited like a kid on Christmas morning I looked at the box and was greeted with a personal thank you on the box which made it feel like it was sent from someone personal. I opened the box and found a personal letter from the company first of all Made in the USA but it is a company started by an American Veteran. I love buying made in the USA products but to support a veteran who risked his life to protect our freedom makes it double good. The letter was a form letter about the company but my name was hand written on it with a "Thank you very much! We sincerely appreciate your business! Kyle" hand written. I like that this company takes the extra time to make you feel special on top of the great mattress topper. So after that I put it on my bed, no smell at all, fit like a glove and felt like little clouds. Last night I can honestly say I slept so good I stayed in the same position all night long amazing. I can not tell you the last time I stayed in one position if ever. Now not only is this great to sleep on but like I said I have princess and the pea syndrome I think it is a really good thickness of course right now at this size you could easily remove it and bring it to the laundry mat to wash it (too big to chance on your own machine like your quilts) but if they made one thicker I would definitely go for that one, but I have to say this one is really great I really slept wonderful. I can honestly tell you this is the first review I have actually followed through on I have a 19mo old son (I am a single mom) and today I was able to run around and chase him the whole day without having to take a break when he takes his nap. I got so much done today. Thank you for an exceptional product and for the personal touches. Thank you for making a high quality American made product for a low cost. Update sept.2013 so I had some issues with the mattress pad not popping back to its original position after rolling to a new position and tried many different things to fix. I placed a review on the seller feedback area. Within 5mins. of posting my issue I received a courteous phone call from Kyle very nice and extremely helpful. He said that shouldn't happen and right away offered to replace it or return it for a full refund. What an incredible company they really know what customer service is and I will definitely be using this company again. Good Luck to all and sleep well. *Update: I rec'd an email from customer service that asked if I would like to try a replacement pad or would I like a refund? Because of the comfort of the pad, I chose the replacement and and they sent it out immediately. The material on the underside of the new pad is quite different than the one I originally rec'd. It feels much stronger and I am hopeful that it will withstand a machine washing. If the pad falls apart I will update my review again. Customer service was very helpful and I appreciate the fact that they wanted to make this right. First time I ever had a vendor want to correct a wrong! Hopefully, they are sending out the latest pad with a stronger backing to everyone at this point that will hold up to cleaning.* I bought this pad in king size back in Jan. 2017 for a new foam mattress we purchased. I researched for the best breathable pad I could find and decided on this based on reviews. I would give it 5 stars for comfort as it is very plush. But 2 stars for durability when it comes to washing this thing. The best way to clean this pad might be to dry clean but when I want to change my bedding, I don't have the time, energy or money to haul this to a dry cleaners. (the king size is enormous and heavy) I have washed the pad twice in the 6 months I have owned it. I would normally wash a bed pad far more often than that but the first time I washed it, a large hole formed on the underside and the stuffing came out all over the place. This deterred me from another wash any time soon...so the second time I washed it, a large dark tear formed along another spot in the padding. I had stuffing everywhere! The fabric under the pad is like rice paper-very thin and fragile. I do not understand why the manufacturer would place such a non-durable fabric on the underside of this product while the top side is so lush. After the money I paid for this pad, I expected better. I would have returned this product after the first wash but no longer had the box. This pad is comfortable even with all the tears son I have kept it for the time being but will not be able to wash it again for fear of total annihilation. I will be looking for something that holds up better when laundering. ... show more
