Awesome little hammer. Works well For leather craft. Nice quality, decent weight for being so small. The only thing I wish I can change is the size. It’s pretty small. But that’s my fault. I like to make hand stitched leather bags as a hobby and have tried a number of different types of mallets for punching stitching holes. I find this small nylon mallet to be the best for me so far. It’s put together properly with no loose parts; the wooden handle is polished and smooth to touch; the nylon head is light enough so that my wrist is not tired after punching many leather pieces all at once (I have very small wrists), but at the same time, the nylon head has enough weight so that the stitching chisel goes right through the leather easily. This is a great little hammer. I highly recommend it for small stamp and tool work. It didn't seem to like the punches very much though. It seems like repetitive use with those will wear it a bit faster. It is fantastic, however, for lightly and smoothly sliding tools while working the leather. It's rigidity means less power needs to be applied with the swinging hand. Far better than my hammers that are made of rawhide or wood and no particulates from it slowly disintegrating. ... show more

If you want a decent maul, you should check this one out. I have one of those yellow head poly mallets and was looking for a decent maul at a good value.
