I knew of the brand evolution from their metal cutting saws, but when I ordered this evolution chop saw I wanted to put it through the paces… And it came out the other end with perfectly cut bevels and miters!! Is lightweight and easily portable to different locations while on the job. Or can be mounted to a bench for a little more security. I ended up attaching it to a decent sized plank of wood that keeps it stable and allows me to haul it around. But just because it’s not a full 12 inch chop saw I don’t get the idea that it can’t hang with the big boys! I’m usually only cutting 2X4’s, or various pieces of mild steel, with the occasional aluminum thrown in there. But I was pleasantly surprised to see how well this saw performed with every material I threw at it. The quality of construction is very impressive, and I believe this multi saw will stand the test of time. Even the various plastic bits on it are very well constructed, thick, and well suited for the job. It is comfortable to operate, and the safety mechanism is not a pain when using repetitively, some other saws I’ve used in the past. The adjustability is one of the things I love most about this saw, and it is very easy to quickly change the miter or adjust the bevel. I wouldn’t try to cut 2 x 12 boards with this thing, but with the right application this is my new favorite tool! The electric motor on this thing is a powerhouse, and once you get it going through the material it feels like nothing can stop it. I get nice clean cuts consistently and honestly it’s very satisfying to use. Don’t think I’ll ever attempt a new job without it, because it’s so dang handy! Doing remodeling or repair to one's home requires a lot of different tools. While a larger Miter saw might be good for heavy duty work, they are inherently heavy and expensive for a good one. As a home owner the need for one of these tools does not support a need for anything heavy duty. All I need is a good smaller saw that will stand up to my use around the house. The Evolution fits that job, for me. This is not a real light weight tool, but is easily lighter than a full sized tool. It is made of a metal base and supports found on the base are also metal. The upper is mostly a heavy duty plastic with some metals intertwined within the case. I am sure that this will hold up well for my use. It is replacing an older cheaply made saw that actually lasted almost 15 years. This is so much nicer than that older tool, that still works but is showing its age, and I know this will last me for the rest of my life's needs. The design is well thought out and everything operates smoothly. I especially like the safety lock out which is designed so that either a lefty or righty can EASILY operate it. Being a lefty myself, this is a major plus. On my older unit, the safety control was very difficult to use and was eventually rendered defunct by myself so that I could actually operate it safely. Performance with this all-in-one cutting blade is mixed. It cuts easily through wood and does well with wood that has nails in it. Cutting a 1/2" electrical conduit was a little edgy as it struggled to cut it. I had to actually ease it through the conduit, but it did cut it and while it took a little more time than a dedicated metal cutting wheel, it did the job. All-in-all, I am really liking this tool. My 4 star instead of 5 is based on the cost. In my opinion, while it is a great little tool, it is somewhat overpriced. I may be wrong, but that is just my feeling. ... show more

I was really surprised at how well this miter saw worked. I read other reviews on products made by the same manufacturer, and they were all pretty positive. I went in with little expectations because it is pretty compact. I was really surprised at how much of a powerhouse this miter saw was. Definitely a good saw to have for home projects and makes excellent cuts. Wouldn't think twice about ordering other products/tools from the Evolution brand. ... show more

This is a super compact and lightweight saw. So far, I've only subjected it to light use but it has performed well. I have used it to cut 4x4 posts and it cuts very well. It won't replace a high end saw but it will do the rough work. Doesn't take up much space in the truck which is another plus. Would recommend. ... show more

    • Extremely portable jack of all trades saw for small jobs
I have a large dedicated cold cut saw and a 12 inch sliding miter but when I want to go do a small job for friends or family it’s a real pain to drag all that with me. While this saw isn’t built nearly as heavily as my other large saws it doesn’t need to be. Perfect to just keep on the shelf to grab with a few other tools and go do a small job. Cuts wood and metal very well, if you’re going to be doing mostly wood I would suggest getting a dedicated wood blade for even better cut quality. ... show more

This was my first Evolution Power Tools product, and I am impressed. I used this for cutting aluminum extrusions, and it cut through them like butter. Then I did some light molding repair, and appreciated those 45 degree cuts. I like the small footprint of the device because I always *want* more tools but, I like many other Americans, I am just running out of places to put them. ... show more

Honestly can't complain about one thing, this Miter saw is fantastic. I thought I may have issues being compact size, but it's actually perfect for 90% of the projects I tackle and it's crazy convenient to use and feels really good. Quality is also well above avg and weighs a good bit. The vacuum bag works as good as others " it trys" and it slices thru metal and wood with ease.
