Frankenstein is perfect! The only reason I gave 4 stars is the strings were all loose and saggy. I โ€œre-strungโ€ it a little tighter just so they were straight. Other than thatโ€ฆ awesome!

So I'll start this review with a bit of fat skip to the next paragraph if you don't need any background on me or my purchase. So background on me I work in HVAC and I've enjoyed building things and taking things apart for as long as I can remember and the last couple of years I've rediscovered building models and working in minature from painting to constructing. I'm no expert in minatures and models but I've learned what is quality and what is lazy and cheap. Anyway a bit about the person I got this for. My dad is a big Van Halen fan and has been since highschool. A fond memory I have is him introducing my brother and I to them with the 1984 album, the song Hot for Teacher specifically, and how he got a kick out of the baby angel smoking cigarettes on the album cover. Well this year when EVH passed my old man took it harder than he expected he would and so as a birthday gift I decided to get him this item as a tribute/memorial and when it showed up and we got a good look at the thing I hated it immediately. My criticisms are: The guitar is incredibly cheap and poorly made especially for $50 dollars. There are parts that are attached with glue, that's no big deal normally, glue can be extremely useful but the parts that are glued on are glued on with large globs of the stuff pooled around whatever item they are being used to hold on to the guitar. Most of the real life metal parts of the guitar are made with low quality flimsy plastic painted with that cheap sparkly paint that attempts and fails to mimic metal. The springs on the back look especially bad because of the overuse of this terrible paint and because the painter applied too much and allowed it to pool. Speaking of plastic parts most if not all of them still have their rough mold lines still attached. Any real metal is loosely attached for example one of the tuners on the item I got is very loose and droops at all times and the whammy bar on top of having snipper marks at the end feels like it's going to fall out at any second. The strings are cheap plastic threads like you can find on a dollar store ukulele except the dollar store ukulele has the advantage because it's strings are thicker and less likely to break. Some areas have been roughly carved out without sanding or smoothing out the edges. Some areas have rough bumpy paint jobs clearly done without care while while some areas have a smooth correctly done paint job. And some parts aren't even painted at all when they should be. Conversely some parts that shouldnt be painted are. And the dots on the fret board go from being centered to being too far left or too far right. The Stand is very light cheap plastic that has a tendency to be easily knocked over or moved out of the correct position. And the rubber ring meant to hold the neck of the guitar is either too big or probably should have had a wire inside it to adjust to fit. The box the guitar came in doesn't remind me of a guitar case it reminds me of a cardboard or paperstock box despite being advertised otherwise. But that's my subjective criticism so you might find the case/box perfectly fine. Now this may sound like nitpicking to you despite me leaving out some more criticisms I considered and decided not to add to my review but for around $50 a replica should be much better made. Especially one that is "officially licensed." If you still think it's a good buy go for it. I just hope you either don't look too closely at it or that my experience is the exception and not the rule. ... show more

What an amazing miniature. The artwork and the detail are spot on. Even the machine head has little pieces of string sticking out of the tuners. All it needed was a burning cigarette stuck between the strings and I would swear it was the real thing!!!! LOL. It is a great addition to my EVH memorabilia. ... show more

AMAZING! Words and pictures do not do justice! I previously purchased 2 sets of ALL 3 versions directly from the company, much to my regret now looking back! The 1st Frankenstrat version that I received from the "other company" looked just like the $900 striped guitar that you can buy here, paint job was great, however, details were lacking, and there was no antiquing or very much distress shown on the item. With THIS UPGRADED VERSION, it has a tremendous amount MORE detail, including the routed out area where the original pickups should be, exposed "wires" are visible, reflectors included on the rear, cigarette burns, and even the quarter screwed onto the guitar! While the color is not as RED as the first one that I purchased, (directly from them, a few years ago), it simply looks amazing! Even the case that it comes in looks top notch compared to what it was! I plan on buying the other versions as well, with NO hesitation! Just wanted to add that while the 1st Black & White version looks similar to what they are selling here, the Bumblebee Version that I have, (again, directly from the company a few years ago) looks NOTHING like the version available for sale on here. It was like they just threw something together on the version that I have, which is why I so strongly regret purchasing directly from them when I did. I almost want to throw it out, or repaint it, but I won't. ... show more
