  • Not the same Eureka they used to make.
Color: Oil Blue Size: 6 Person
First the Pros: Huge, easy to set up with 2 people, a real waterproof floor, floor-to-ceiling windows, mesh roof that allows plenty of ventilation. Now the cons: Made of very thin material, no-see-um mesh is just waiting to tear, no side stake points, tiny, inconvenient inside storage pouches, the window panels toggle into place for a snug-ish fit. We camped a couple of nights and had a delightful time. We used a Hikeman 300x300 footprint underneath and a 10'x10' internal tarp. We weren't taking any chances with damaging the tissue paper Eureka calls a floor. The design of the window coverings made us think that with a wind-driven rain, they wouldn't stand a chance of keeping us dry. Mother Nature did not cooperate with a storm so I can't confirm that. The supplied guylines use a poorly designed plastic clasp that never held taut. No worries, they were easy to remove and tie the age-tested taut line hitch. Because there are no side stake points, the sides creep in and expose the footprint. We had water collect under the tent every night. Still, no water intrusion. Zipping open and closing the door was a 2 hand affair. The tent was unaffected by the 15 mph breeze we experienced. Now, the really bad part. We packed up and found the duffle about one size too small. It was tough to get the pole bag, stake bag, and tent in there, even with a tight roll. We transported the tent home, laying on top of everything else. We set the tent up at home to make sure it was clean and dry and found 6 holes in the mesh and a sizable L-tear in the floor. This tent is disposable. Do not put anything in the duffle with the tent! Even then, the tent has exposed metal crimps and rain fly supports that contain stubby poles. These get rolled up with tent, just asking for trouble. Use the duffle for the pole and stake bags and just fold the tent loosely for best results. We have returned the tent and cannot recommend it. ... show more

  • Tent is tall and spacious and exactly what we were looking for
Color: Oil Blue Size: 6 Person
I contemplated buying this tent for over a year. We didn’t set it up when it arrived in Dec., but on our first use in June, way outside the return window. Right out of the bag, one of the roof poles had a broken elastic cord. We had to piece it together and finagle it to get it to stay in place. A pretty good wind kicked up while it was set up, and the other roof pole bent in half, rendering it useless for the rest of our trip. We had all the guy lines staked out and everything set up properly. I contacted Eureka, and they were amazing to work with. They answered email quickly, and sent 2 replacement roof poles free of charge and free shipping. They arrived within 3 days of emailing me the notification that they were replacing the poles. Pros - standing room from edge to edge. Big screen windows - can be used as a screened shelter when windows aren’t covered. Great place to escape the sun and bugs. Lots of airflow between rain fly and roof. Cons - poles could be made of stronger material, especially for a tent that’s almost $500. I would give this tent five stars all day if the poles had been better. I would give it six stars for Eureka customer service. I’ll update after the next trip using the replacement poles. Hopefully I just got a bum batch of roof poles. ... show more

  • Mostly great but pole broke
Color: Oil Blue Size: 4 Person
We bought this exactly 1 year ago, and have used it only 3 times. Very easy to set up, very spacious with enough room for 2 Coleman cots, and very well-ventilated; in fact almost too well ventilated, as last year we camped in late September and because of the open mesh under the rain flay it retains zero heat. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as it releases moisture buildup, but when it's in the low 40s outside it's the same temperature inside. We just got back from an exceptionally rainy weekend and the tent was perfectly dry; amazingly so, as we had an inch of heavy rain on Friday night, water got on the tarp under the tent floor and it was bone dry inside. Very impressive. What's not impressive unfortunately is that as shown in the photo that one of the pole connectors broke on, again, a one year old tent that had only been used 3 times. I guess I'll have to find out how to get a replacement, because as a let's call it 2 1/2 season tent this fits the bill for us perfectly, so quite disappointed with the pole and questioning the long -term durability of it. ... show more

  • This tent can withstand high winds & heavy rain
Color: Oil Blue Size: 4 Person
I would highly recommend this tent. I recently camped for a week in this tent. We had three major storms with with heavy rain and winds up to 39 knots. At one point we thought about abandoning the tent but we decided to ride out the storm from inside the tent. After the storm passed, we inspected the tent for leaks and wind damaged. We were surprised to to find not even an ounce of water in the tent and no wind damage. Our neighbor who was camped next to us did not do so well. Their tent collapsed during the storm. The next day after the storm, they came over and inquired about the make and model of our tent. They were in disbelief that our tent was able to withstand such a pounding. ... show more
